How to save game

Hi everyone.. I love the game, but I have played twice and got pretty far into the story, but when I quit the game never saves! I return to the main menu to load the game and theres nothing there.. Just 3 new slots... I click one of them and the game just starts at the beginning.. It's soo frustrating!

I think if you aren't actually saving it manually, you have to just hit "Continue"
