No. That's a bad idea and could run you into more trouble than you need, since your laptop runs on optimus and that software will get the updates itself, when it needs them.
At this point i have no idea either where the problem could be. I mean if you don't have similar problems with other games that are just as demanding, then it is probably a software issue after all but may not be one you can resolve all by yourself.
Other than that, you could try contacting the Quantic Dream Support team and append your full system specs, specific problem you ran into with the game and attach your .dmp file from the game's profile data folder (Found in C:\Users\*YOURUSERNAMEHERE*\Saved Games\HeavyRain demo).
Also, be sure you're laptop settings for Nvidia is actually using that GPU by right-clicking on the desktop and going into the Nvidia control panel. There should be 3d settings section you can setup games with, sometimes it doesn't default to the right GPU. Can also check this by opening task manager and seeing which GPU gets used when playing.
I do not recommend updating the Intel GPU drivers outside of the manufacturer as it can cause problems. I've seen issues where dynamic screen dimming wouldn't disable which made things too low light to see, and also smooth-scrolling issues in browsers where it would hang when using the mouse-wheel to scroll up/down a webpage.
For the BIOS, that is a mixed bag. You might get some improvements, but may not. With all the Spectre/Meltdown stuff you might take a hit if you haven't applied those fixes already. Not recommending not update, just to be aware of the effects of doing so.
Finally, thermal throttling, because you're using a laptop. I've owned laptops with 970, 1070, and my current with a 2070 and they all belch out heat like crazy. If your cooling/fans aren't quite right it can easily rob performance from your machine. This is the nature of the form factor. I use a decent cooling pad and a desk fan to manage heat and generally over around 77-83 when playing modern games for my CPU, GPU normally isn't as bad (thanks Intel i7). Generally I can run stuff fine without all that extra stuff, but high heat over time is my concern. I do not know how well you maintain your equipment, nor if you've ever cleaned it, but given it's a 960M it has to be several years old and likely dusty.
Hope you can play the game. I loved it on my PS3 and loving it all over again.
but lets do a comparison, i can run witcher 3 at a good 40-50 fps and drops to 30 or so in big cities (people tell me my ram should be 16 for open world games not 12 idk)
but in heavy rain demo i was barely getting 20 it was on 10
and that botters me
at first i thought demo was buggy or something
If i read the System Requirements correctly, the max you can play is on 30 Frames, see pic. -> https://prnt.sc/t2suw7
There is also an Option to limit your frames to 30 or 60 Frames in the graphic settings. You should limit them to 30.
Or go into Graphics -> Advanced Settings and press "V" to auto detect the settings
it is on 30 cap :)
The GTX960M is worse than the minimum you need, which is a GTX660 -> https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-960M-vs-Nvidia-GTX-660/m27242vs2162
So he clearly did not inform himself before he bought the game and since he had in the Demo only 20 Frames, why did he buy the game anyways?
He didn't buy the game and only tested the demo. Instead, he wanted our help to determine whether he should risk buying the full game or not.
as the next post said i havnt bought it and it seems i wont
but even if i do i CAN refund if ive played less than 2 hours and before 2 weeks no matter what
i can refund after 2 week or over 2 hours if there is a problem that is not mine
does reinstalling windows help?
i havent done that for over 4 years
but other than the game i have no reason to do it
