Not at all, its more like the Telltale games (The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us). Story-wise it reminds me a lot of 7even and Prisoners (both great films if you havent seen them).

Expect a similar experience however choices matter and there are concequences ( in telltale games, not so much). I cant explain further without spoilers.
Its a very worthy experience imo but that depends on the price due to being an old game and the fact that its already on epic for a while

the only thing this and Alan wake have in common is the developer who got paid by Epic to keep their games away from steam for a year. 

Alan Wake - third person horror
Heavy Rain - adventure. mostly point and clicking and QTE.
