Genocide run question
I'm a little confused on how to start the Eden level after the gate during a genocide run. Do you have to kill the shopkeeper before beating the gate?

I've done a few runs where I have killed all of the bosses (except Shopkeeper), prompted the gate battle, beaten it, and Serif just appears and kills me right there. Am I missing something?

You are not killing the Shopkeeper even though you know that you have to kill the Shopkeeper...

I ask you...am i missing something?

The answer to your question is...KILL THE SHOPKEEPER.

Haha, you only have to kill Shopkeeper so you can unleash Yami on Serif during Genocide no?

I just want to enter Eden and fight Serif even without Yami (even though she cannot be killed this way).

I did not think killing Shopkeeper is a requirement to simply entering the Eden level.

Hence why I'm surprised that I cannot enter Eden on some runs where I have killed all the bosses besides Shopkeeper.

If you're fighting the Gate period then you aren't on the Genocide Route. That means you're on Neutral. You don't fight the Gate in any other circumstance.

Are you fighting the Shopkeeper and then sparing her? That will probably put you on Neutral in theory. Just don't fight her at all and you'll move on to Eden after killing all bosses.

EDIT: Ignore that, I was wrong. Sparing SK still allows you to access Genocide. Yeah, I don't know what's going on with your runs then. But if you've killed all the standard bosses then you move right on to Eden. Fighting the Gate definitely means Neutral though.

I did this once trying to do genocide but not being able to kill shopkeep and kept putting it off. It ends up a sort of new-game-plus, because you won't have the spell to actually kill serif, so she sends you back in time, back to zone zero, but you still have all your stuff, and the difficulty continues to scale. which means now you'd have to either re-genocide everyone including the shopkeep, OR turn it into a pacifist run post-reset and get the pacifist ending with a comically large pile of upgrades and cards. yes, all in one run. I got through the first area and then died as soon as I took damage in the next because i only had ~100 hp left.

it is worth doing if you want to just grind for an absurd amount of difficulty and upgrades.
