Offline available?
Looks like fun, but I saw something that online is always needed, is this true?

I was just wondering the same thing... thanks but no thanks.... they'll kill off the server at some point and there goes your money down the drain.

Same.
I was about to buy when I saw this, and it helped me decide NOT to buy it in the end.
I'll change my mind if they change theirs.

Yeah, Invaxion just did the same thing. And that reminded me of what happened to DJ MAX TRILOGY and DJ MAX RAY. Not sure why I didn't remember those before picking up RESPECT.

DJMAX Trilogy, for the record, didn't block you from the game when the servers went down. Just Online mode and the patcher (which would fail but still let you pass), which is understandable. You can install the game from the disc and play it, and you can download the latest patch manually and update the game. I just played it like two weeks ago.

Ray, though... yeah, that sucked.

Well if you are able to access at least an offline version of the game that at least is understandable. As for me personally I am staying well away from any game that has online only proprietary servers (RIP Battleborn). Unless they include stand alone server software along with their release. Paid full price when Battleborn was released, only for 2K and Gearbox to completely kill their servers and thus the game, even though the game had a single player campaign. So I am glad to avoid a repeat with this game.

You neglect that Trilogy used a USB dongle for DRM which would last a few years at best before ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ itself and no longer working, at which point the game would become unplayable without either buying a whole new copy or cracking it.

I dunno about the "last a few years" part. But I still have my USB profile key working ever since I bought the game last 2011.

And yes, I can still play Trilogy offline ever since the server shutdown last 2013. It still even has my profile and game progress intact (individual song scores are saved in Documents folder instead).

Lucky you then. I also bought Trilogy in 2011 and it only took until around 2014 before my USB dongle completely stopped working.
