If you've played over 2 hours they'll usually send an automated denial first. Personally I would wait though, these things happen with PC gaming.
You could also try reporting the issue to NEOWIZ or filing a bug report on the Proton Github repo if someone hasn't done so already.
Have you tried playing the game with the latest stable update that was released recently. Is it still running fine for you? The stable channel was recently updated with all the new features from beta channel from the last month or so. It looks like people are having performance (lower/unstable framerate) issues with a variety of games. See reddit post link below. The performance issues were occurring in the beta channel and now is an issue in the stable release. It seems this game's performance issue maybe a combination of whatever was done in the latest DJMAX update, and whatever the issue is with the current steam deck software release. Steam deck issues may be same issues that is causing problems for other people running the game on Linux and Proton.

I'm not sure it's relevant, but I've noticed a discrepancy between the install size and file count on desktop vs Steam Deck:
Desktop - has performance issues, 51.59 GB install size, 16104 files
Steam Deck - No performance issues, 90.83 GB install size, 8418 files
Both installs validate successfully when verifying integrity of game files, and both are installed on Ext4 partitions. Maybe this is normal? Just something I noticed.
Edit: The game is noticeably smoother when limited to a single core, especially on more challenging songs with lots of notes.
I was checking the proton log. and I found this kind of error message is keep logging.
fixme:thread:NtSetInformationThread Can't set other thread's platform description
I think this is ntifs.h in windows. but I can't find any solution to solve this error.
With really, really improved the performance was switching from default ubuntu kernel (5.15.0-43-generic) to 5.18.16-xanmod1, with debian/ubuntu kernel its specific designet for performace and has inprovments in cpu usage and governor, so the bug being related to the CPU usage has more credit IMO. Also i check, and can confirm that while runing the game cpu usage never go up more than 25% and i have 4 cores... son number add.
BTW is someone reporting this to Vale/Proton dev team or neowiz? i slit can play the game, i switched from 25~32 fps to 28~42, but still seeing double notes in any decent difficult son.
One thing to note on the steam deck, I am also running the latest preview build, which saw a few updates this week dealing with general performance issues. Not sure if any of those helped. Don't remember if I tested the game after the last update a day or so ago. I did test it earlier this week when the first update to preview build came out on Monday, and that one didn't fix anything.
EDIT: Was playing the game today. Performance was still good. I then decided to try the game out with the latest Proton GE and things went completely downhill. Performance was terrible. I reverted back to the default proton used on the deck (which I was previously using), and performance got even worst. I was getting 10-20 fps. I deleted the game's proton files, and performance reset itself back to somewhat normal. It's back to 60fps but the framerate stutters are back. Not sure what to do anymore. Performance is all over the place and inconsistent each time I play it.
