Relatar um problema com a tradução
Like, you would think having a stable, consistent line of merch would be better in the long run because then that means a large amount can be sold whenever, wherever.
The main problem with the good ol' FOMO style of these manufacturers is simple. It's fake scarcity, and it screws over everyone else in the long run. Not only can we never get these again which we could any time if it had a consistent, stable merch line. But it also means that you can never really re-release any of these BECAUSE of this fake scarcity.
You re-release any of these and people freak out because it eliminates the FOMO which was, honestly, the entire point. It wouldn't justify some of the prices they ask for alongside the nature of the product being """exclusive""".
It ♥♥♥♥♥ over the fans because they can't have a consistent, long term way to get characters they want from games and series they love. It ♥♥♥♥♥ over the devs because they lose out on another long term source of revenue that's not just game sales, which can help fund continued development or new games. PLUS it ALSO ♥♥♥♥♥ over the company because it prevents them from making continuous re-releases or people get pissy.
I hate FOMO limited time BS because it's just a net negative. But these two ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ companies are digging their claws into every single franchise and series I enjoy and it's getting very old very fast.
As far as I know, i don't think they do it for the FOMO, i think they do it so they can make a large quantity of plushies from hundreds of different sources while still making it high quality. Doing both those things as well as keeping old plushies on sale would only lower how well made they are made, forcing quantity over quality.
