It's up to you to experiment all the paths and see what work and what doesn't. Remember that you need a diverse defence to cover all possibilities. So you won't be relying on just one tower. (at least, not on harder difficulties)
It's also worth considering what your defence lack, then finding ways to fix your defence. Ex: do your current defence struggle against MOABs? Then get some towers that specialises at dealing with them.
top path is for bloon clearing
mid path is a generalist that can do both cleanup and moab damage
bottom path is support and moab damage
middle path is versatile that can clear out mobs of bloons/MOABs quickly with their ability
bottom path gets a second special attack that shoves MOABs back and multi-hits them, also alters the throw to be straight instead of curved
the top and bottom path i use moreso than the middle path but get that boomerang monkey in the right spot and it can do some serious work.
the top path is relatively affordable and useful, but requires specific maps and perfect placement to make use of the "orbiting" boomerangs. Another glaring issue is that you CANNOT reverse the direction of the orbit by reversing the throwing hand of the boomerang monkey. this can decrease the chances of the "orbiters" hitting bloons, costing you DPS.
in general the middle path is the best one. it's somewhat affordable, can pop lead/camos (only with monkey knowledge) and attacks rapidly enough that it won't miss and leak as often as the top and bottom path do.
moab dom is great for some more gimmicky maps(like the recent BAD at round 60 oddysey and bosses that spawn blimps)
glaive lord feels like it just get outclassed by spirit of the jungle
