Although you can go play the netflix version where there is no donation, and the skin costs only ten thousand if I remember correctly.

I don't know what got worse, I got a new hero and a bunch of cosmetics for $6, I also bought a new game mode for $10 and another 7,500 game currency at a discount for a couple of bucks. I don't understand why I should condemn new microtransactions if, apart from the new mode, everything else is cosmetics?
And if we talk about this particular set, then this is a collaboration, they always cost money, and usually more expensive than what the developers themselves do, and it is quite obvious that they will ask for green papers and not game currency for this.

Hero skins should never cost real money and NK should avoid collabs if it's going to be like this. There are very few things in this game that justify MTX, and this ain't it.

It is a live service game that needs to fund continuous updates somehow. I'd prefer if they just made the trophy store paid as it is purely cosmetic.

It's hardly a live service game. Co-op is peer-to-peer. The only BTD6-specific things the NK servers handle is displaying events and submitting leaderboards. BTD6 is one of the most popular games in the world with millions of sales, it's not like NK is a struggling company on the brink of bankruptcy who just need you to buy one of their predatory microtransactions so they can make it through the week.

Utter nonsense. The desire to put a beautiful new skin on a character is just as natural for a person as the desire to dress up beautifully or buy useless beautiful crap for their home or change the wallpaper on their desktop. People love the beautiful, they love variety and they love to stand out. And if you're willing to pay for content only if it breaks your game, then that's your problem, I don't want to break the game and go through it with 1 toe, I just want my monkey to look beautiful and the balloons to look like magpies. Or as an example, I bought a DLC for the cult of the lamb to make a beautiful village and dress the inhabitants in beautiful costumes, and I was also glad that this money would go to THESE developers, they deserve it.
