Then, click Race icon, check Leaderboard. Open your eyes on top section.
Obviously you need to make a successful run in order to register score.
That's the whole point of mini-race, to lower the stress since you aren't competing with bunch of whales. Rather than skipping it, you would rather reconsider completing it in slower pace. You get more Trophies, anyway, that's what we care lol.
I didn't want the leaderboard. I wasn't curious at all about the leader board because I'm apathetic about the races. I wanted to start a mini race.
Meh, you still have to complete the main one which still isn't for me so I just won't really care about the mini ones. To each there own. I agree it is great that there is a more casual option to earn trophies via races.
I understand that your expectation is something like on every map, I can just choose Race mode and do it. But, a race is called a "Race" for reasons. Even a Charity Marathon is still consider as a "Race". You don't have to win, you just have to try. That's the spirit of the sports, either physical or digital. We actually need this kind of positive spirit, and mini-Race is a better execution. Don't you agree with this perspective?
Rather than driving away from Workshop, some kind of motivation to tell casual players give a try on this map is good. Maybe they realized that those buttons actually made it only slightly harder than Dark Castle? Who knows?
The fact of the matter is I'm not good at races, and it's hard to git gud when the whole competition works against what I'm able to do. I'm avoiding a compulsive behavior of paying over and over again. Otherwise I'd develop bad habits across the games I play. I know myself enough that this would be true. So this game mode is a nonstarter for me.
In this case, it is about knowing how to get enough money on first few waves, snowballing it with micro skill. By micro, it means how fast you can use mouse or fingers to sell, place, upgrade and activate ability. It isn't something done by few weeks.
I highly suggest you practice micro skill somewhere else. Like rhythm game Taiko no Tatsujin, Cytus, MOBA like Dota 2, whatever fits it. Bcs Race Pass is not worth for that purpose.
If you want to further support this game, sadly music is a better way:

I am very noob in Race too. I played very carefully and didn't risk. The past experience helped me to at least get Rank 11 in Mini Race with 3.50 min. Very fair. I haven't spend more than 5k in Races.
I highly suggest watch past Race mode in Utube bcs the strategy is very different. Like what others expect, I would agree the ability to play past Race mode without Leaderboard and rewards. Since they share different rules, so they are more like practicing your key skill.
However at the same time, I don't spend unnecessary Monkey Money. I just stockpile and have fun with Daily. Comes to like 253k. I even take Collection Event grind casually. I can understand why Race mode is designed to sink extra money lol. A cursed issue for long time, yet no perfect answer for every kind of players. Either ppl say it is easy to be stonk, or complain P2w. Endless cycle.

A past races mode would be awesome, and I think that'd be enough for me to get into it. I've watched YouTube a couple of times to win, but that isn't really fulfilling. I like to figure out strategies on my own. Though I'll watch something to learn from good players in strategy games sometimes. Age of Empires is my main game series right now. It isn't an issue of learning to micro. It's an issue with literally having no way to practice without paying.
I feels like they didn't add past Race mode just because of how aggressive we could be to indirectly farms Money when playing Daily and Collection Event. But I still find it fair just to practice the micro of this game just bcs it feels so different.
Good to know that this conversation to be healthy, and you play Age of Empire, maybe you're referring to AoE 2? I heard AoE 4 news from SpiritoftheLaw and watching T90 casts on AoE 2. I just don't play RTS much nowadays until I dropped my "perfectionist" behaviour XD.
My main game is Age of Empires Online. The official servers were taken down years ago, but Project Celeste revived it as a fan server. A bunch of cool guys, some of whom are moderators for the official Age of Empires community keep it alive and even add to the game. They even added a new civ recently, Romans, and a new end game campaign for all civs based in Rome. Microsoft's terms allow for the project, so it should be running for a long time.
AoE 2 is actually my least favorite, mostly due to friendly fire existing for range siege units and civilizations being too similar to each other. That's the favorite child though, getting tons of expansions and mods. I play the events as they come up. One of these days I need to play through the campaigns (it's the only one I don't have those finished on though I've done a few). After that I'll have to work through the spinoffs (the China expansion for Age of Mythology since I've done the rest, Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds, and Halo Wars). I play the first AoE once in a while, but sadly they haven't added new content to it.
AoE 3 was my main before I got back into AoEO. I still love it! I play the events for it too and play it for fun when I need something different from AoEO.
I'm excited for AoE4. My profile picture is an AoE4 selfie done using Microsoft's fan preview website. I loved seeing the
