Progression guide for new player?

I have no idea what to do after unlocking CO OP, there are too many info dumped on me. What should I do first and what should I aim for?

i suggest playing maps until you unlock all the upgrades for every monkey,then you can try everything else [you can still try the other events if you want though]

That's the beauty of this game, there's no right or wrong way to play. You could try to go for a new pb highest round in freeplay, you could work on unlocking paragons, hunt achievements, do chimps on maps you haven't tried yet, try to get a good score on the race event or ranked boss event, join a team for the upcoming boss rush/ct. And the list goes on...

Ok, I'm bored playing alone but I don't want to be a drag on others in CO OP or lose badly in pvp (if there is one), what should I do?

Play less often. This isn't a game where you need to play 24-7 to stay competitive. Maybe do the daily challenges plus a regular map and then get off for the day.

no. closest to that is race leaderboards, or Contested Territories, which is not true pvp either.

if want pvp you might like bloons battles 2 more than btd6.
