so im a 15 year steam veteran. i don't use hacks because i like keeping my account in good standing. seeing all the weird stuff going on in this game, and annoyed by cheaters in ranked. i looked into the hacks for this particular game and how easily available they are to the "i gotta win at all costs" players who cant play a casual game casually. a quick google search led me to wemod. 300k players use their site for this game according to wemod.. interesting i thought... thats quite a lot. so i tab back into the game and it tells me 'modded client detected'. i closed everything.. reopened the game. and all was back to normal. odd.. so i tried to recreate it. opened the website back up again. and bam the game tells me my game is modded. simply having this website up will trigger the game into thinking you have modded your game. they are not just looking at your client and other processes, they are literally spying on your browser.

I almost wish I didnt read this, now im kinda terrified of my monke game spying on my browser activity and then selling off to 3rd person buyers. This is a big issue NK. anti cheat (searching the games own files) is different than spying (searching through everything on a computer such as websites, folders, and stuff not in the games own files.) This is really something that needs to change asap or NK will lose their playerbase. (even though they kinda deserve it for spying on peoples devices)

they arent hacking anyhting, but it is my opinion unethical to be browsing through your files. they should be checking if the game IS modified not if it COULD be modified by some other program.

pfft, my guy. i just opened a tab searching 4 ''wemod'' went airplane mode, lauched the game without internet and it still said modded client detected, explain how tf it can spy on me even without internet.

Well being US company is not carte blanche to do anything you want, look at recent EU vs Facebook news. laws like GDPR in EU or CCPA in California are kind of a big deal and companies simply cannot do whatever they want.

Also Ninja Kiwi is from New Zealand and their Privacy Policy confirms it. They are technically owned by MTG, which is however from Sweden, therefore part of EU.

But I am not a lawyer, so there might be some shady lawyerspeak, I might have missed.

That being said, this feels blown out of proportion, as from available data it seems that worst offense NK did is that they didn't test their anticheat properly, so it produces some very funny false positives. It seems they are just checking running processes against some wordlist, to see if there are matches.

on their privacy tab, it's mainly again, countries rules, mobile rules, facebook and google rules, rules for kids, website rules, NK don't care if you bought something from them, and didn't received it, typical we don't sell ur data.

i dont think its even running processes. I dont have any of my mod managers running like wemod or nexus ect.. I only open the program when im playing a select few games so it is not an active process running. however Bloons states the client is modified. so it seems like its just scanning your installed programs in general and flagging a client that wasnt modified as modified just because it doesnt like some program that has not actually interacted with the client. i find that problematic
