why is multiplayer still so terrible, especially the match making?
there are so many issues and it seems none of thhem are getting adressed.

- constant disconnects are most of the times not a problem on the player's end and are extremely frustrating. the game is also extremely laggy, making things like later rounds in boss fights painful to watch and play.
- the match making is as basic as it can get. why do we have to join random games and there is no option to see which games are up and decide which one we wanna play? people are joining and leaving games until they found one they wanna play. often the host starting trhe game which leads to players who didn't want to play the map instantly leaving.
- why is there no ready system before the game starts to a) prevent players leaving because they didn't want to play the map and b) give them a chance to select a proper hero before the game starts.
- why do we have so few options to communicate? there is no way to communicate in the lobby before the game starts, there is no way to ping locations on the map,... this could be massively improved even without an actual chat.
- why can't we either kick players from matches we created or select minimum requirements to join the game? i don't wanna do chimps on a hard map with players who never even beat a hard map on normal and if they join i have to leave and create the game again. and again, and again, and again.

i've been away from the game for years and nothing has changed at all. it would be so easy to improve multiplayer so do they just not care at all?

This is my best guesses/opinion and may not be confirmed:

-constant disconnects
I think the connection is P2P instead of a server so lag depends on everyones connection
(the lag is real stupid, once even got disconnected while being the last person left in the lobby because it couldn't connect to host, ofc later rounds would still lag but would be a lot less)

- why do we have so few options to communicate
Probably to keep the game PG as possible as a chat system would be bypassed.
(would be nice to have maybe pre written messages or more option to do things like ping towers)

For the rest of the things you listed my guess is NK just being lazy or some weird thing to do with mobile requirements.

It's annoying when the other player is having ping issues (not you) and you can still see the game running in the background behind the disconnect timer. Why does it lock your screen too?

It sucks to lose a match because 10 levels have passed and no new towers/upgrades have been purchased.

If both players have to be locked; at least pause before the next round.

correct me if wrong but the game DID pause when the disconnect timer was up, some update changed it

correct me if wrong but the game DID pause when the disconnect timer was up, some update changed it

If so it was before my time. I've always known it to continue playing with the popup active (assuming you have continuous rounds already turned on)

yea that's extremely annoying! also when the game starts and a player is instantly quitting (alt-f4 i guess) you can wait 30s before you can do anything.

also when someone has ping issues and the disconnect message shows up frequently for a second or so, whatever tower you had selected or were trying to place is getting deselected.
so many things that just scream "we don't care."

i understand why they won't let us actually talk in a real chat but they could at least provide way more options of communicating via premade messages, pings and emotes.

Connecting p2p with 4 players in the game is just not a good idea and will obviously lead to constant connection issues. might be the reason why it's so unstable but it's again just bad design. this is not a f2p game so they should provide the server imo. i guess that also means that everything happens client side which makes cheating easy.

Theres 5 reasons why I leave a lobby.

1: The difficulty is lower than hard.
2: I don't want to watch people farm anymore or there's too many people using double cash, so I'm looking for a CHIMPS game.
3: It's currently a collection event and I want to get bonus rewards, and the host chose a map that doesn't have it.
4: It's monkey teams and someone placed down the wrong tower.
5: Someone is using double cash mode.

This is only really annoying if you're picking placement reliant heros like Brickell (water), Churchill (straight lines), or Corvus (entrance).

I believe there's enough options for communication, but the problem is that it's locked behind trophies. Do you want to be more coherent in CO-OP, or make your towers and Bloons cooler?

I don't think that matters too much. As long as your teammates have the braincells to get heroes first (and not place Benjamin where he can immediately trojan Bloons) you should do fine, but it can be a little hopeless if they all place their towers at the entrance. Ezili (ZOMG) or Gwendolyn (DDT) will probably be the best to carry your team. You also have powerful late game options like Transforming Tonic, Glue Strike (DDT), Relentless Glue, Symphonic Resonance, Downdraft, and any anti BAD tower. You should also get decamo like Signal Flare or Submerge and Support.

most of your points are reasons to leave a team after the game has started. there are certainly many reaons to leave a game but those are dependent on the way people play. i was talking about things you can already see in the lobby, like achievements or selected hero.for example, if i do chimps and someone joins with benjamin i would like be able to communicate that they should pick a different hero (yes, benjamin can be used in chimps but i dont trust most people to do it right and assume that's just their default).

The lag wasn't so bad awhile ago but it got much worse in the most recent update. The bug fix will probably take some time since they are releasing a new game first most likely.

And it seems you can get banned if someone in your lobby is using mods. If you don't notice it fast enough - you are doomed. So even the daily multiplayer challenge is risky. I couldn't believe it myself.

I have like 54 solo black borders and 24 CO-OP ones. I enjoy the rules of CHIMPS and hate farming.

What I'm saying definitely isn't true for CO-OP CHIMPS in (hard) advanced maps or expert maps, but playing with randoms regardless of their level/accomplishments/heroes on easier maps hasn't been impossible. My tower/hero recommendations are what I usually consider in CHIMPS if we have a certain weakness that needs to be filled. I didn't include anti 63 towers like Ring of Fire, but I usually have to pull that out if it's the braindead put at entrance players. Its kind of like an ISAB run salvaging video, and it tests my game knowledge.

I treat most co-op games like this. Its so much more fun to flex my combination knowledge and lean into w/e they're doing. support main life

Thats why im starting the match as soon as 1 person joins , there is 90% chance they will leave and you will play co-op as solo mode
