Can you save mid game?
It's a bit ♥♥♥♥ when a wave unexpectedly makes it through and then your 20-30 minutes of game has to be started all over again. There doesn't seem to be a way to save the game and reload it to re-start the round and re-try. Am I missing something? this seems like a basic ass feature all games need.

There are no checkpoints for rounds. You can save only by exiting to the main menu. Only one save state is allowed PER MAP. If rounds were treated as checkpoints, everyone would save-scum the entire game because its 0-effort to do so. Its not a healthy game design. You can still somewhat save-scum by exiting to menu if you see you are about to die, and many people do abuse this loophole.

It really should have had save points or checkpoints in built, perhaps like every 5th to 10th level. Problem is, if I die on level 80+, to start all over again by the time I get back to lvl 80 a player will have forgotten both the level they died on and what was there. Doesn't make for a good game design at all to have to start from scratch.

you know it literally has checkpoints every 20 rounds in standard game modes.

I wouldn't mind having it checkpoint 20 rounds previous to where ever you're at.
ie, you get to round 63 and fail, your checkpoint is at r43
if you then keep playing but fail on round 44, your checkpoint would still be 43
I don't think any less than that would be healthy because you're getting closer and closer to that spammy save-scum gameplay. If the option exists, why wouldn't you use it? If its so easy to save-scum your way through the challenge, how much faster are you going to get bored of the game?

Significant Rounds (bold for actually important to memorize):
24 - first camo (only really important to know for CHIMPS)
28 = first lead
30 = 2nd lead (important only if relying on certain abilities to pop leads)
40 = first moab
60 = first bfb
63 = ceramic rush
76 = regrow ceramic rush (its just 63, but more hp and added regrow)
80 = first zomg
90 = first ddt (first moba-class with lead/black/camo properties)
100 = bad (moab-class with immunity/reduction to most debuffs, can't be insta-killed except via bucc paragon's activated ability)
Some strategies you may want to memorize a couple other rounds, but would basically all be before the first camo appearance, so its not really important to memorize it.

I think you're remembering something about boss events. I do recall some event being like that, but its definitely not normal gamemodes.

If you really want to continue from a save or play a file after losing all lives try purchasing continues. The idea of the feature is to encourage microtransactions so that players who wish to save on time can pay for that benefit. If you really want to play without worrying about losing progress to a large number of bloons leaking try playing modes aside from the official modes, via. the custom game editor tool, which allows you to play on any maps without awarding medals or monkey money for completion. Try out new strategies and find the best ways to save on time!
