fast forward gets slower over time?

when playing coop and using auto start the fast forward feature gets slower over time. we can fix this by un fast forwarding then re fast forwarding but that's annoying. why does it get slower? is this our fault somehow or a bug? thanks

bad connection. your games get desynced at higher fast forward speeds, and the game slows it down to make up for that.

oh well, i guess that's better than being visually out of sync like btd 5 was
