powers are things like monkey storm, cash drop
instas are pre-upgraded (any combination of tiers) towers that you can place for free
I was joking btw. These are all frowned upon for co-op.
The current easter event ended a few minutes ago, but events like that are great to get insta-monkeys and monkey money.
--> I check the "expert" maps and look for the shiny "Bonus Reward" sticker on one map (each difficulty tab got their own bonus map). Let's say it's the expert map "Dark Dungeons". I choose that map, play it on easy (40 rounds and cheap turrets), but in the end I'll get 60 monkey money and 12 easter egg (the event currency for insta-monkeys). I "only" get 60 monkey money, because I did beat this map in the past, so I won't get the extra cash bonus for receiving the medal (which would be 300 monkey money instead I guess, but one time only).
THe heroi "Psy" is extremely good for this method (expert maps on easy mode) because of his global range. Otherwise: it's business as usual to survive 40 rounds.
--> you'll get higher tier crates for the event currency after spending enough currency; those diamond crates got better monkeys in them than wooden crates (for example: being able to place a 3-0-0 helicopter in round 1 is a huge powerspike on difficult maps and especially while playing the "half cash" mode).
Monkey Money farming: The method above (event currency) would be one way, the "deflation" mode is quite nice for it (that's a medal within easy mode: you start with a pile of cash, but you can't get any more in the run. I normally build 1 sniper (0-2-4) and an alchemist (3-4 points in the first path for buffing the sniper - he'll be fast, can see invisible and will be able to destroy metal thanks to the buff). The rest of the money normally goes into more upgrades if possible or a second sniper (or cheap, but effective units on the field).
--> lean back, let the monkeys fight for 40 rounds and get your reward.
A faster way would be to actually play the maps and unlock those medals for their first-time unlock monkey money bonus.
If you actually meant "bananas" (for example: to unlock a paragon tower ingame): you need to snowball your income for that. That means: plaster the map with banks (my favourites are 0-2-4; the top way generates more, but you need to collect it yourself) and plaster the water with pirate ships (0-0-4). Throw several insta-powers "Cash Drop" to be able to build banks in round 1.
If you ever reach the point where you got enough monkey money and wonder what insta-powers to buy: I buy "Cash Drop", because it makes difficult maps like "half cash" mode much easier. I hardly ever use any other power.
I have to add that I bought all heroes with monkey money, I always keep a certain amount in reserve (50k+ for rewinds, costumes etc.) and I buy some Cash Drops every now and then.
By the way: you get one insta-monkey whenever you beat round 100 (and another one at 200, at 300...). Hard mode on any map requieres you to beat round 80 anyways (and the medals require round 80-100); sometimes I just keep on playing until I beat round 100 before quitting the map for that insta-monkey (never grind to 200 for the sake of an extra monkey; it takes insanely long and you're way better off doing a bunch of 100-round-runs instead)
I never had to farm monkey money actively, it was always a side product for me to be honest. My best source was getting medals on maps (I got roughly 30 maps done on c.h.i.m.p.s., all beginner maps got a black border on my account for example.
I didn't do the math, but beating every single map on easy and medium alone (no extra medals) should give you 40k or so. Some extra medals like "medium: military only" are not really any more challenging than playing "medium", but you get a few hundred monkey money for each additional medal.
Add some extra cash from "Just playing a map", events like the easter event, maps from contested territory (if you're in a team - no matter if it plays on casual or competitive) or odyssey / race events and you swim in cash.
