Geraldo is a better 1st pick either way. Its a nice stepping stone into the more micro intense Corvus, and you can have fun trying to get solo paragon 100's if you're into those. More people in co-op will know how to play around his strengths as well. Drone boi imh should also be your next consideration. He ain't as strong, but easy to use and co-op's best friend after Sauda.
Corvus is kinda mid to me because he requires so much micro to the point where he is not even fun to use. He just becomes annoying to use and learn, you need to learn how to manage your mana on top of your normal economy and some of his spells are near useless. BUT I would imagine if you do end up learning him and are willing to put up with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, he can be really rewarding. Its just not personally my cup of tea.
Geraldo is a support hero, he can help other monkeys get what they need every time. And, even being a support, with his ballistas he can solo some maps as well.
As for Corvus, he is an offensive, global ranged hero. You can put him anywhere and he'll kill bloons, but it's better if he is placed close the entrance so popped bloons can be converted into mana for him to use.
Agreed completely.
I also suggest considering more of what's 'fun' for you and not just what is supposedly 'best.' That's a personality and preference thing, and it's just a game afterall, see what is more fun for you to mess around with. (Speaking of which, that is the one thing I do disagree with @Hiroko on haha - I find him a blast to play when I'm in the mood.)
If you play long enough you'll have more money than you know what to do with anyways, so don't sweat too much what order you purchase the heroes in, imo.
