there are also white(immune to ice), black(immune to explostions) and zebra(white and black immunities, but those are less dangerous
when buying upgradess and towers it should say what they can pop in the flavour text
As for Quincy, he gains camo detection after a few levels.
You may see some towers attack a balloon, but not do any damage to it, some types are immune to specific damage types. A purple cannot be harmed by "magic" attacks, a lead cannot be popped by anything sharp (darts, tacks, nails, etc), a black balloon cannot be popped by explosions (which includes frags now for some reason), and a white balloon cannot be frozen/popped by an ice monkey.
Every balloon can be camo, so make sure you have some kind of detection by round 24 in normal play.
camo on the other hand just allow projectiles to pass through them
The tooltips are not good in this game regardless as it is hard to do math without looking at the code.
