Stuck on loading screen

So I'm sure some of you probably have seen this glitch before, but btd6 for me seems to be stuck on a 1 out of 8 downloading screen and says "unleashing the sun god."

I saw a solution that said to uninstall the game and reinstall it. That sort of did the trick but when I then fully entered the game, I was unable to access any of the events going on.

I closed the game down and reentered it to see if that would work, but I was back to square one at the loading screen.

So I repeated this one more time and now uninstalling the game no longer works at all and I am unable to enter the game whatsoever.

Does anyone know what to do? Or what the problem may be?

I don't know if my issue is related but yesterday the game worked fine for me, and today I have a black loading screen that is loading infinitely until it crashes.
I'm using latest version of Mac (I haven't updated anything since yesterday).

did it say something like "step 1 of 8" or anything? and a plane bobbing from side to side?

I have Mac version, so I guess my issue is different. I tried uninstalling which didn't help, finally restarting Steam did the trick for some reason.
