Primary will Unlock bonus starting cash which is a HUUUUGGGGEEEE help! Military unlocks MOAB Bloons enter the map Damaged which is always a plus trying to break down one after another.
Then also as a side to work on your Heros Knowledge page is always helpful! Having a good Hero you enjoy to use and work with is always a must in my opinion. Pat Fusty is one of the best to run.
Outside that The 0-2-4 Necromancer Monkey will be your best friend :) That and a 2-3-0 druid.
Good luck out there!
We all play differently and there is no 1 right way to play Bloons and never will. There are so many ways to have a blast :)
Whatever will help you the most. Its how you wanna play.
Primary, is the best, because the final knowledges include an upgrade that gives you extra starting cash (critical to the game) and a free bonus Dart Monkey or Glue Monkey (critical to the game.) without extra cash, the game is nearly unwinnable.
the glue monkey is useless because it can't do damage, but the dart monkey can mean the difference between being able to afford expensive heroes ASAP or having to go without heroes until rounds 20-30. once you get the hero down, it will auto-upgrade itself without precious cash, and give you a fighting chance.
Military is useful because you can get an upgrade that reduces the cost of all militant monkeys by 5%, as well as the first militant monkey costing 2/3rds of the normal price. this can bring some of the cheaper ones (such as the sub and the sniper) down to an affordable amount, allowing you to start a game with 2 monkeys down instead of just 1 (the free dart monkey, and the sub or sniper that costs your entire starting cash if you've unlocked the extra cash boost.)
the Powers skill tree is the worst one by far, but contains the 2nd most useful power up; pre-game Prep. this puts down a few road spikes, effectively allowing you to leak a few bloons early-game without sacrificing precious money.
Support is also worthless, except for Farm Subsidy, which reduces the cost of the first Banana Farm, which is the only way you'll ever be able to afford a farm in the game because they want more than $1500 for it right out the gate and the game is usually over by the time the farm can pay itself back since it will only give you about $40 a round.
Heroes is pretty useful because you can get an upgrade that makes the hero level up more quickly, an upgrade that makes the heroes cost less, and an upgrade that starts the heroes at level 3 (giving you access to the activated ability.) this can mean the difference between leaking bloons and losing the game, or surviving into the rounds 40+.
Magic isn't very good. if you REALLY want to, you can get "Magic Tricks" which reduces the cost of some of the Wizard's early-upgrades to make them actually affordable, and Mana Shield, which can allow you to leak up to 50 bloons if combined with pre-game prep before you lose the game.
