Coop is necessary for some events or achievments. You have many maps to play in single player, and you can play every map in every map mod on coop too. But you choose if you want coop or single, depends on your gameplay. The coop is not very good for me, have much lag and some bugs, but its not very cool play that game alone for so long.

Coop only for achis to be honest, anything else can be done solo.

For achievements or for fun. Your enjoyment of co-op will vary greatly between who you ask, but you'll almost certainly get an overall response of "lag" and "stupid players" and "lack of communication" issues, regardless of if some one loves or hates co-op. Its running gag that P3 always disconnects and P4 always spams cash request while farming the entire game without laying down any defense or giving cash to some one who does, and you'll hear stories of dumb players/trolls who spam 000 darts next to your 401 alch/ninja combo. Reality is it doesn't happen as often as people make it sound, but it does happen frequent enough that you will definitely understand the frustration anyway. I still love co-op anyway.

co-op is not necessary for the full experience, the events and achievements have co-op related ones that you can partake in.

Thank you for the input guys
I already read about the lag or bug problems... but that P3 thing sounds interessting.
Is the cash per bloon split in half so everyone gets the same cash at the end of the rounds or goes the cash completely to the one, who kills those bloons?

Cash from popping bloons is divided evenly between all players. Generation from abilities/farms/etc belong solely to the player who built it. The big glaring exception to bloons pop income is when some one uses an engi trap. In that specific case, the trap owner gets 100% (base) + 100% (bonus) while no one else gets anything, aka traps steal the income from other players. Obyn's trees probably does that too but I never see him in co-op so idc enough to find out.

Can confirm Obyrn does.
However, I tend to give my cash away on coop to help others place their uniques down.

but that sounds fair... maybe ill give it a try... and overall, there are enough people, who want to coop?

I have no problems getting games (I host more than I join though).
I usually fill the 4 slots within 5 minutes of opening a lobby.
It then only depends if those players STAY for at least the 80 rounds. (I tend to want to go up to 100 to get the insta monkey).
But most of the time, I get good quality games. Just today, me and this other person stayed until level 200. (about 2 hours) Started out as 4 players but most left at 100 (which would have been sensible to do haha).

I have never been to 200 before though, so that was quite nice to do.

Can coop be played across device types? PC to Mobile, for example?
