Newbie here, how much should I invest in money-generating towers?
Newbie here, how much should I invest in money-generating towers?
Seems like the options are the banana farm path and the merchantman path.

Any advice on how/when to use and upgrade these?

First, there are more money towers than that:
Middle path Sniper (Supply Drop/Elite Sniper)
Middle path Helicopter (Support Chinook/Special Poperations)
Middle path Druid (Jungle's Bounty/Spirit of the Forest, these need to be near farms to get good value)
Bottom path Alchemist (Lead to Gold/Rubber to Gold)
Bottom path Engineer (Bloon Trap/XXXL Bloon Trap)
Bottom path Monkey Village is all about money

As for when: You want them as early as possible (without making yourself lose, obviously). Typically a 3-0-1 Ninja with some support to pop lead, or a 0-2-2 Buccaneer with a little extra support are enough to hold while you get a farm up and running. The non-farm money makers are a bit safer, but generate less overall

thanks! So for a typical 60-round game how many farms should you have? 3 ? And how should farms be upgraded?

you don't really need farms for round 60, unless you're playing a boss event or apopcolypse.

for 60 round you could have a couple 2-0-0 farms. any more is a bit excessive.

please dont use engineer bloon trap in multiplayer. It takes money away from the other players.

No, you should, it generates money for the owner of the tower. That is beneficial to OP.

If you have any intention of doing Chimps I recommend not using money generation to practice. I only really use money generation in coop/ boss events. Even doing 100 rounds doesn't require you to make extra money. It's even possible to beat 100 rounds on half cash on easier maps.

If you really want to use them then whenever you can get them without losing but I really haven't seen a need to use them outside of boss events. The earlier you get them though the better so if you want to use farms and stuff get them as early as possible without losing

If you use the hero Ben to generate money and have the free dart monkey knowledge you can get away with placing the dart monkey and placing Ben down as long as you have lives. If you like using Sauda from my experience you can use her to solo to round 30 especially on easier maps to start generating income

On water maps the merchant men ships do good and is my preferred source of money generation when allowed.

Bloon trap from the engineer is nice and easy to get when playing alone if you have a nice straight line/ slight curve setting the engineer to last will make the engineer carry you for a little while should be long enough to rush straight to bloon trap before leads start showing up. Make sure to get larger service area as well for the range and being able to choose where the trap goes.

Sniper supply drop works well on longer maps and even just spamming them can work til probably round 60 (not entirely sure but they get decently far)

Not sure if you if you are having trouble against certain rounds/ difficulties but depending on what you're building having more money won't guarantee a win if you can't deal with certain bloon types.

Money generation is really unnecessary for all map difficulties but impop and half-cash.

Boss fights is where farming becoming critical.

engineer monkey at the beginning of the track set to LAST will make a lot of money and pop a lot of bloons, make sure to get his 0 / 1 / 0 skill pretty early before going for 0 / 2 / 4 and make a camo and lead popping tower near him ( 0 / 2 / 5 dart monkey set to STRONG works great with him along with Gwen or a fire Wizard / Spike tower or a 2 / 0 / 2 sniper, or just a 2 / 2 / 0 sniper but I feel the 202 one is more helpful for MOABs). Don't place them close enough that they will pop before he puts them in his machine.

Alchemist can also make some good money if you upgrade his lead to gold before lead bloons show up, and then get rubber to gold after that, but I feel the engineer monkey is just better because it pops entire lines of bloons and is usually a safer investment

Merchantmen are helpful, they can pop spam bloons pretty easily with 0 / 2 / x so like the engie monkey they are pretty worth since they will mass clear bloons while also making money, grape shot is pricey tho and they can be hard to place due to needing water so I still think making an engie or banana farm first is better.
