New to Coop BTD6, tips for me?
So I just played my first 4 player coop match in BTD6, was a lot of fun and we whooped it.
I see there is no in game chat system (bummer, but I can understand why the devs don't want it), I came here to ask for tips as a Co-op player.

Things I should do in Co-op, that I might not be doing in solo play?
Things I should NOT do in Co-op?
Any general strategy tips for Co-op play that are different than solo play?

[To the other three folks who were in my match, I didn't think to grab a screenshot of your names, but thanks for the great 1st Co-op game!]

There is no in game chat to avoid people abusing it and just cursing out the world for their anger.
Emotes are a good way to communicate. And there are also some fun ones in the shop too :P

But best advice would be dont listen to anyone that says towers are better then others. We all play differently.
A fun tower to roll with that is extremely helpful is the Wizard 0-2-5 pathing. I personally cant play without using Ice top path nor Druid middle path. And with a Wizard to back you up you will be able to start grinding up some exp rather easily :)

And heads up. Ice tower is the most controversial discussed tower in game. Most will say it is the worst tower in game. Although poeple misuse it and just think its bad from that. It is in fact one of the strongest top 3 towers atm So heads up on that one XD

Since you get less money in Co-op, Benjamin is a great choice to increase income.

Things to do:

Early game
Make sure someone can deal with round24 camo, round 28 lead, round 40 MOAB(302 heli with buff can solo it)
Mid game
Make sure you know how to beat Round 63 bloon rush
Late game
Round 90+ DDT (round 90 93 95 99)

Depend whether the game is mapsplit, if your team can beat the harder round mentioned above, just go for as many farms as possible(5+ farms).

To solo beat most Co-op games, I normally go for 502 Apache Prime + 230 village(camo detection and lead pop) + 520 Alchemist, 025Prince of darkness
040 Ninja, Bloon Sabotage(can slow DDT 50%)
(standard Chimps strat lol)

You might not get enough money to upgrade to tier5, so you can either farm like crazy or request for money and hope for the best. xD

If you want the game to be easier, just use cash drop to start off Benjamin.

Communication: more in trophy shop

As for things not to do, just don't play Chimps, it's pretty much impossible to win with random people, unless they're very high level like veteran 1-5.

Stack pool with 030 ice monkeys haha

O god.... Ben is your first point of advice?
People use Ben because they are lazy and ether cant or dont want to set up banana farms. And Ben cant be used of a few game modes. So it is not good to just stick with leaning on Ben for the extra bananas.
Especially when Pat Fausty is the best ranking hero in game. And is needed for the more difficult maps and modes.

Tbh, with active play you can win with any hero in most maps, Benjamin is just easier for beginner. Benjamin + farms = Turbo Capitalism xD. And yeah Benjamin doesn't work in Chimps. Sauda, Pat Fausty all good for Co-op difficult maps/modes if you know what you're doing.

^ If you're team is already hugely overkill, sure go for it. Otherwise, be a team player with defense. A lot of people don't like those 2 ben players on the team that do nothing but farm until the last round. Give others an equal chance to farm as well. Its not the most efficient decision, but thats just part of being a fun teammate.

- Any cheap hero that handles camo or lead for the first 40 rounds is a huge boost in co-op with randoms as you already have one of the 3 main priorities (camo/lead/moab) covered.
- Don't heavily rely on abilities. Co-op lags and you will miss time them.
- Don't pause or slow down the game.
- Don't spam emotes/request.
- Don't 4xx temple in range of allie's towers.
- Do use emote combos to convey some teamwork options, like piggy bank + hero emote to signal you are saving up to place hero.
- Do consider building support options, but more than that just look at the whole team as 1 team instead of 2-4 individual groups that can't work together. 1 guy have most his towers in range of where you could drop a village? Go for it. He's building an x3x ice? Have some fun with a glue gunner or yolo mortars there for fun.
- Don't build next to an alch/ninja duo.
- Don't use engi's traps (they steal the pop cash from others).
- Don't use more than 1 cash drop or insta monkey. Same reason as the first thing I said, really. Many people don't like it.
- If you want to do some of the hardest maps/modes, avoid randoms. Premade team on discord.

For camo, Sauda or Quincy is good. Entieene is best for late game anti camo, but you may need to give him a bit more xp, or powerlevel him if you want him to get camo. For Lead, Obyn is pretty good for early, and there are other choices for leads, however, some are just a bit more situational (Adora due to sacrificing, Striker due to being not that good unless you use bomb/mortar spam, etc).

I have no idea how to send emotes in Coop mode. I don't even see a hotkey for it.

Thank you for the tips!

Etienne is the best COOP hero in the game. The amount of time and money saved because of global camo detect in a money tight mode is unreal. It's a huge advantage to have an Etienne in coop.
nolshru Jul 10, 2022 @ 4:31pm
a good thing to do is to like, focus on support - use 520 ice monkey, 025 or 502 glue, Etienne, Overclock, Ultraboost, 205 super for ultra late game

just make life as easy as possible for other people

It's in the upper right corner. There's a menu with two tabs. One is for giving money to your teammates, and the other is for emotes.

OK, so on linear maps line 'Alpine Run' if I happen to be placed at the start of the map (where the bloons enter), am I screwing the other players if I stack my defense there and pop almost everything that spawns, before it ever gets down the track? Or should I be letting a bunch through? Someone spammed the 'thumbs down' emote at me in a match earlier, apparently because I was shredding things at the entrance to the map (in the area I was assigned to defend). He seemed seriously honked off at me, but I don't know what I did wrong.

I thought that money from pops was shared among all the players, no matter who pops the bloons?

true but i also get that it gets kinda boring to some people and if it happens alot this can get very annoying. Just dont spam traps and or necros at the front...thats toxic af

re-read my tips:
"- Don't use engi's traps (they steal the pop cash from others)."
Traps don't give money as a pop generation. They are a separate mechanic and a design oversight. You're fine killing everything before it even appears. Just don't do it with traps. There are some that don't like it because they feel left out, and there are some that love it. You'll also commonly see people stacking 204 / 024 snipers for the same reason.

No. Most players who have Ben place him down as soon as they have enough in co op, then start saving and placing banana farms.
