Black level badge?

Hello, im here today because i have a question about someone in co-op. I was playing a hard mode co-op game with a random player and instead of having a yellow star badge next to their name saying "131" for example, they had a black and purple badge that just had a "1" on it. Does anyone know why and have you seen it?

its master/prestige level, something you get after you reach max lvl, which i believe was 155
