how about this... think of it this way... you get to learn by watching someone better than you!

That's point of the odyssey. Plan ahead or risk re-doing everything.
then odyssey is not the right content for you
I totally agree. The Hard Odyssey this time is one of my favorite Odysseys yet.
I think this statement is far more than that.
In most TD games we played, all we have to do is to follow the spamming train, CJ!
In BTD6, yes, we do have farms, we do have some sort of "skills" (Monkey Knowledge). We can spam normally like most TD do. But what makes it fun isn't just the tower variation, but CHIMPS mode.
CHIMPS mode is a mode to test us on how much we valued on tower, and Extreme Odyssey is just a "tutorial". Even without reading the warning on Extreme mode, after passing 1st map, most players can already has a sense of "which tower isn't necessary?".
I do agree that not everyone has same mindset, but most players do, it's just the matter of time. When they develop such sense, not only they do better in CHIMPS, but they also value a particular upgrade outside from CHIMPS, and learn how to stop using MK plus "over-eco". They find the game much more fun bcs there are so many things to try, from what they learnt in Extreme Odyssey.
The constant game balancing that NK put more than any other TD games you could ever find is just making it much better.
Spamming towers with no economy issue is not fun or challenging.
I don't spam towers, either, but I'd like to at least get a dart and sniper for each map, not for just two of them.
I like Dart, and I like Triple Darts and Crossbow too. But Extreme mode teach me to value towers like Tack. Tack is actually pretty amazing in strategic position and serves into early, mid and late game.
If you feel uncomfortable, limit to 3 per Island and dump the rest at last Island. Hero is always there and can be sold. Yes, selling Hero can gets you into important upgrade like 0-2-4 Sniper in R28. But do not try to sell Monkey. It has bugs when you reload Saves, I have reported the bug and believed many others did.
You will be using less towers, more hard-earned Tier 5 in Extreme Odyssey, trusts me.
And see how well they do, I have seen many unexpected results.
Also, this Odyssey will teach most people how to do CHIMPs maps for roughly 60% of starts with just a few monkeys.
