Account Linking

Maybe I'm stupid. If so, make it clear.
I have a game going on Steam. I want to link that to my mobile version(through Play). But I didn't have a NinjaKiwi account, so I figured I needed that. So now I have that. But I see absolutely zero ways to link my Steam account to the Ninjakiwi account which, I assume, from there I should be able to link the Kiwi account to the Mobile account.
Someone walk me through this before I just nuke the account saved on Steam to start from scratch.
The only button that seems like it might be useful to this is the account button in the settings menu, but I keep getting told no internet connection, which is obviously not the case.

You don't need to link steam to NK. They are seperate things. Just go to your mobile device, press "I've played before" and login to your NK account.

That makes zero sense if I'm wanting to link the Steam profile to the mobile profile so that they're shared. Since I can't directly link the profiles via a link code, since apparently I can't generate one, the only other method that could feasibly sync them would be through the NK account. However, there's no way that I see to sync either the mobile or Steam to the NK account.
In short, if the Steam profile isn't synced to NK, syncing the mobile to NK will not help in syncing my Steam progress to the mobile app.
What magic do you think there is that somehow causes my progress on Steam to appear on the mobile app if Steam doesn't need to be synced with NK and you're saying just link to NK from the mobile?

Open the game on Steam.
On the main screen, click the gear icon in the upper left.
From there, hit "Account".
Click "Get a Linking Code", then put that Linking Code into the mobile version.

I feel like I've gone that route, but I'll check it again to be sure.

Yeah, that's the one that keeps giving me 'requires internet connection code 101'. So if linking is done through there, I guess I have to solve whatever retardation that's about.

So it has something to do with networking and the way the game tries to access your account info. I'm not well versed there, so I'm getting nowhere. Short of screwing with router settings, I've tried to eliminate any protection that might block outgoing connections. I feel like this is something the devs need to address.

I cannot link my Steam to the NK account.
If I cannot link Steam to NK, I cannot link the Steam Account to the mobile.
I cannot generate a link code. So I cannot link them via a link code.
I cannot even access account in the settings menu of the Steam application, so I can't do anything, it seems, that would cause the NK account to even recognize that I own the game.
You said there's no need to link Steam to NK. That I just need to link the mobile to NK. Leaving it to seem as if, somehow, the NK account can sync the mobile app to my Steam version, the very thing I am trying to do.

Most likely, from what I've seen in other posts, there's some issue with how the server connects and communicates with my computer and that there is some networking conflict involved that is blocking the game from pinging. Thus, an error 101 code for no internet connection when I try to go into accounts on the Steam version. Now, I can do a regedit with guidance and generally handle most issues with a bit of time and research, but I'm no good with networking, I don't like networking, and from what I can gather, the way in which the devs designed it to ping and communicate is unusual, unnecessary, and probably not optimal. So I'm inclined to instead hope a dev gets wind and they can update the way in which the Steam version communicates with the servers.

For the record, I have the same issue (and also for the record, all network dependent features work, EXCEPT for the account button).
