What is a good upgrade path for the normal dart monkeys?

024/5 is my favorite, unless you need it for Lead, and have a long enough straight path, then 4/520 but only once. With the right monkey knowledge, you can make 2X 025's

025 Dart Monkey can pop leads by himself.

On maps with lots walls like hedge or moonlanding, go 520 dart.

They usually just used to start a CHIMPS round, some upgrade pierce and speed but rarely have to. I prefer 0-3-2 Dart because it is a solid choice and an alternative to Ninja for early CHIMPS rounds, thanks to spread projectile it is better than Crossbow. I don't make 2nd one due to limited income.

But in CHIMPS its usage in late game isn't that skyrocketing high.

0-2-5 Crossbow Master is the highest usage Tier 5, compliment well on Primary + Support run. Especially including Super Brittle.

Juggernaut is never bad, it's just struggle on R80+ due to MOABs are more than Ceramics. Plasma Fan club is just too pricy to get used, however Permabrew Monkey Fan Club + Churchill is a thing.

you can get two of them (with the primary knowledge), it pops lead, it pops camo, it has extremely high attack speed and attack range.

you can compliment it with a 5/x/x/ village for even more potential.


since the monkey is also free (with primary knowledge), has cheap upgrades, and initially is useful for popping bloons early rounds, it is one of the best towers in the game.



ironically a complete 180 turnaround from the dart monkey in BTD5 which wasn't very useful mid-game

0/2/5 is pretty awesome and can solo most MOAB classes, though on maps with lots of closed spaces there's joy in 5/0/2 because Ultra Juggernaut in a closed space wrecks everything
