XP question

Checked the wiki, and the answer on reddit seems to be about towers, rather than character level.

In terms of gaining overall character level (I'm grinding to get monkey knowledge), how does it work?

1) Does hard give more xp than easy/medium?
ANSWER: Just did a test, round 3 gives 80xp on easy and hard, so no difference.

2) Is XP lessened when you're in freeplay? I know towers gain xp at 10% during freeplay, but does that apply to overall character level too?
ANSWER: Looks like it is 10% xp after you click freeplay; here's the data.
Wave 40 easy = 1220xp
Wave 41 easy (freeplay on) = 126xp

3) Does XP gain slower if you've already beaten that level, so beating new levels will level you faster?
ANSWER: Just tested this, appears to have no relevance.

4) Does XP gain change based on gamemode?
ANSWER: Just tested this too, and again, no relevance.

5) Does the map difficulty affect character XP earned?
ANSWER: Round 1 on a beginner map was 40xp, Intermediate was 44xp, Advanced was 48xp, and expert was 52xp. So basically 10% increase for each difficulty. Therefore playing harder maps does affect character xp gain.

The most amount of exp you get when doing 0/100 rounds since they take longest and a lot of bloons popped. Freeplay gives way less exp you can notice when you level up your monkeys if you're a beginner. Don't know if difficulty of the map has anything to do with it.

Thanks. Yeah I know the monkeys themselves level up slower in freeplay, I'm wondering if that applies to the overall character level as well (I'm level 95 currently). So in that sense, if xp is slower in freeplay, then level 100 is pointless, since hard only takes you to 80, so I guess I'd be best just to play hard over and over?

I've been lvl 150 for a while so I don't remember for sure but I think:

1:Yes, indirectly since higher levels have more pops, but I don't think there is a difference pop for pop.
2:Yes
3:No (?)
4:Yes

I remember that deflation mode on an expert map was a good way to farm XP.

Cool, yup that's what I've been doing, I set it up, and walk away, and come back with like 30k xp or something. So it looks like I was on the right track anyways.
