Why the implementation of Monkey Cash to put your knowledge point?
Yeah. This ruined the game completely.
Publicado originalmente por Rohan:
Everyone is welcome to their own opinion so i'm not considering this 'thread closed' or anything like that. But people do keep on bringing up a few things that I feel the need to clarify, so even though I don't work on the 'community' side of this company I will be marking this as an answer for visibility reasons.

- You do not ever have to 're-buy' any knowledge point even after a respec, this was clarified in the patch notes and for anyone who understandably missed that it is also clarified again whenever you bring up the respec menu, before you confirm.
- Whatever your thoughts on this, this does include people who never paid for existing knowledge, you can respec now and all the points you had will have no cost to spec back into in the future.
- There has been a massive 'map creep' in the game already from launch, bringing the launch total of about 21 maps to more than 40 today. As first time victory awards the vast majority of any earnings, for a new player with double the maps it is easier than ever to earn lots of monkey money without ever having to replay the same map and we will only continue to add more maps if you just feel like waiting for those future first time bonuses. A brand new map can score you a total of at least 2325 & up to 9300 monkey money, so it shouldn't even take too many of these to cover the current total so far
- Not all points have a price, I can see why some people got confused here who already had lots assigned but 66 points can be assigned for absolutely free, so without pushing for any extra knowledge you can go to rank 90+ without spending any extra monkey money if you so desire
- On the above point 20 more cost 250, 24 cost 500, and only 8 cost 1000 for a total cost of 25,000. 3500 of that total is made up from the 5 new points that were added, a cost of 21,500 was added to previous knowledge

Just some numbers
- All first time clears on only 10 beginner maps would be enough to earn 23,250 which completely covers ALL the previous knowledge, and 1 more Beginner map would more than cover the new points too.
- If CHIMPS isn't your thing you can still earn 2025 from each beginner map by skipping CHIMPS, in this case only 11 maps done would add up to 22,275, still covering all past knowledge and only requiring 2 more maps to be cleared to cover the new points that were added
- Only clearing easy mode on every map and no other sub medals or modes would add up to about 7000 which is enough to unlock every 250mm point currently in the game with 2000 leftover, or reach the Capstone of our most expensive knowledge tree (Military)

Whether this change bothers you or not, I hope that you can still understand we did put thought into new players with this change and presented it in a way to that it still barely impacts on anyone who picks up the game today.

Even the below-average player has far more monkey money then they can poke a stick at without over indulging in powers, and the map-creep I spoke of before has made this issue develop even faster for newer players rather than favoring old ones which seems to be one of the other concerns here.
We could've just countered this by only inflating the prices of all new content significantly, but another issue that has been concerning for a long time has been a desire to add more cool and fun knowledge around specific mechanics and build diversity but a fear of that system adding too much power creep as knowledge already feels too game breaking. By combining these problems into the one we are now able to freely add whatever knowledge we want to the game if it sounds cool enough and not have to be as concerned about power creep in knowledge as an issue so long as it is balanced out with a fair price.
____________________________________________________________

In a final TLDR conclusion, you're still welcome to disagree or brush aside any individual points if you so desire but I will just restate these two quickly.
____________________________________________________________

- It is simply not an issue for 'brand new players' moving on from now as I have made painfully clear in this post
- This will impact more 'recently new but before 15.0 players' -- briefly -- depending on if you have already cleared most medals while using a massive amount of powers, and it was your right to use as many as you wanted since you didn't think you would need them, I am sorry if that is the case but fitting into that category will make you a very rare outlier. But on the bright side, there isn't any real need to go back and grind-out this difference any more than you personally feel like doing as a few new maps will cover it if you just want to wait.

People are only really mad because Monkey Money is buyable thus leaving a bad aftertaste. If MM couldn't be bought most of you would have no problem with this change. Monkey Knowledge is kind've OP anyway so I don't mind it being harder to get high end perks. I would like some of the heroes to be cheaper though because it takes a little too long to get everything as it is now.

@Bowser Dragon: I agree, respec should either be free or refund MM spent (even if you didn't spend any because of the update).

From the news post:

If you’ve spent Monkey Money on a Knowledge and respec, you get the point back but the Monkey Money remains invested - you don’t have to pay Monkey Money for that particular knowledge again.

They explained that this change is so they can add more KP powers with future updates - more powerful ones - and wanted some way to govern access to that power.

We've enjoyed a year of excellent updates for free, and they clearly show in the same news post that they have great plans for many more free updates in this coming year.

What more do you want! Sigh.

Simple. Pizza, Soda, bag of chips and everything one needs for type 2 diabetes.

Everyone is so mad at something that's literally a "git gud" situation. Cornfield, one of if not the easiest advanced maps, gives you $4800 for doing only the hard section. As long as you know how to use the better towers, you can easily make a ton of monkey money. At level 32 or less, you can get 10% extra monkey money through the "Mo' Monkey Money" knowledge. Cornfield then gives you $5190 for the hard gamemodes. The entire primary sector costs a total of $5250. Military costs $7500. Magic costs $3750. Support costs $3250. Heroes costs $2250. Powers costs $250 if you get only pre-game prep, the only one that really matters. $1500 otherwise. That comes in at a total of $23750, or $22000 if you don't get powers (besides pre-game prep) and don't get the bloon impact "buff" that makes it worse. If you can get that much Monkey Knowledge, you can surely get $22000. "Cash grab" isn't even a valid thing either, considering you now have to pay for knowledge and monkey money if you're going to be pay-to-win.

Sincerily, who even buys this thing? You already paid for the game, why pay more to advance faster? Enjoy the game and spend your money somewhere else.
SpeeDemon 3 FEB 2020 a las 9:34 a. m.
i dont see why this is turning out to be an issue. no you do not need to spend money. if anything its forcing you to get better at the game by actually getting all the medals and getting money and xp. and if ur saying its a problem for newbies, it rly isnt since all the early knowledge points dont need monkey money anyway. by the time they get to the ones that cost, they should be good at farming monkey money and they wont be complaining. and if you dont have enough, then u rly need to get better at the game cuz its rly not that hard. if u call this a cash grab, idk what u would say about alot of bigger companies out there that make you play 50 quid for the exact same game every year.
puzfreak 3 FEB 2020 a las 1:43 p. m.
I read through these replies and I think everyone here is overreacting. These are the people that don't actually do anything but occasionally play maps or something, or sandbox mode. Cash is super easy to get and even with this it isn't pay-to-win still. Playing the game normally is easily. If they really wanted a cash-grab, they would make DLC, but they can't because no-one would get it and they would lose fans. The challenge that you are all not seeing is it actually play the game. Also, don't replay challenges, you earn a lot less monkey money.
Halfshell 3 FEB 2020 a las 2:05 p. m.
I'd get the DLC if it were good. Now a better question would be: what DLC would be good? A bundle of some really nice looking maps, some interesting Towers we've never seen before, some new modes and maybe throw it together in a campaign. The game already has everything so a DLC would need to do a little bit of everything well to please everyone as we'd all want different things!

remember when double money costed monkey money?

Yup, I think it was $7500 or so. Which was fair. I love playing the different modes. Hell I took BTD all the way to the masteries and then some. Always doing the boss fights, totem maps, weekly sea voyage etc. So to see them remove that in favor of charging another $18 bucks is greedy.

Yeah just for cash while on a map. It won't double your monkey money for finishing the map.

People should think some people bought the game for the full price (like me in mobile version, and I gifted my brother too), so... it's not for $1. The reason is different, it's about principles, values. Ninja Kiwi really disappointed me.
