How does the monkey village work?
I know it from BTD5 but here it kinda confuses me and is it ever worth it?

Reduces tower cost and slight increase in range.

I recommend using Path 1 & 2 perks, Path 3 is kind of useless.

The Monkey Village gives a 10% boost of range for all towers in its range (no discount like in BTD5). Towers with bigger ranges benefit obviously more from this.

Like all towers in BTD6, the different uograde paths are designed for specific purposes.

Path 1 is about buffing other towers, the higher upgrades benefit however only primary monkeys (the first set of towers you unlock). The 10% attack speed boost also does not work on towers with insane attack speed (like Super Monkey), so it's best used for towers with medium attack speed or monkey that have secondary attacks/abilities that they apply from time to time (like tornados from Druids).

Path 2 is centered about anti-special properties. It counters regrow, camo, lead and purple/energy bloons. The last two uogrades give an active ability (like before) that gives all monkeys in range an insane attack speed boost. Unlike Jungle Drums this one affects also super fast towers.

Path 3 is about cost reduction. It gives a passive upgrade cost reduction to nearby towers, however only until upgrade 3, everything that is upgrade 4 and higehr will cost the same. At the second upgrade on this path the tower also stacks the cost reduction with nearby monkey villages (two times), so if you get three villages early and close together, you can save a lot of money. Later the path gives also passively monkeys in range additional money for pops.
Last two upgrades are unspectacular (everyone will tell you that), one does give you a free dart monkey eachround (but the cost for said upgrade is so high that it is only worth in freeplay if you survive tons of rounds. And at that time most others towers outshine dart monkeys), the last one removes nearby banana plantages and uses them to produce money crates each round. Unless you really need both space AND the regulary money drops, this upgrade is also aweful. it would be a lot more effecient just to sell plantages.

Overall, the worthyness of the monkey village has dropped really hard, it is both super expensive and does not have super good rewards. It was a great buff twer in the last game but in this game it gives most of its buffs only to one monkey category.
The upcoming monkey academy will be a much better tower that affects magic and military monkeys (basically monkey village for those tower types).
The only really good path is path 2 because let's be honest, giving the ability to pop every bloon type is super powerful. Especially with DDTs being a thing.

I think monkey village is more of a "niche" tower for challenges. Where you don't have access to all tower types and need detection or counters for bloon types your other towers cannot deal with.

Range

Bottom path gives discount.. It's not useless in some gamemodes *Deflation*

I find the anti-camo upgrade is an absolute must at higher levels simply because having a few anti-camo specialist monkeys just doesn't cut it anymore.
The monkey village gives a range boost unupgraded.
Its upgrades range from price reductions to camo detection to boosting primary monkeys damage.
Its pretty important for anything above round 90.
