Primarily play on mobile, no problem sometimes. But if the other player have a slow phone hardware, or just plain old system, that contributes greatly on lag issues.
Possible solutions I see
1: Connect true peer to peer. This would reduce lag, but the trade off is possible vulnerabilities with the direct connection.
2: Host Co-Op games Server Side. This would also reduce lag but come at an increased cost of server power necessary. As revenue drops as player retention drops this may not be an option for the developer.
Bonus: Allow formation of Lan Games. This is an option I think all games with co-op should still have. While this is not a solution for public games, games with friends on the same network would work much better and with the right set up you can connect networks together for over online play.
Just my thoughts, I'm not a Dev or Have much more than a passing knowledge of Networking. I do have my AAS in Network Administration. I don't know how difficult any of this would be to implement or secure for safe use.
Hope everyone has a great day.
