The Tiny Bang Story

My Review
I just finished the game, and it was pretty fun. I was let down, though, that there wasn't any plot involving the characters I met along the way. When I finished the game and they were all sitting there, I think I should have felt included in their party or something, but honestly I just felt I was looking at pretty art and nothing else. For a game called "The Tiny Bang Story", I would have assumed there'd of been some RPG aspect to it. I also wish I'd had the option to go back to previous levels and either redo them or finish them because there was one level where I forgot to find the last 4 puzzle pieces. It was about 3 levels in, so I wasn't keen on making another profile just to get those puzzle pieces, but I eventually did and I ended up skipping over the same puzzle pieces again lol. It's not a big deal since there's no score for it and apparently you don't get reprimanded for not collecting a few when it comes time at the end of the level to piece the world together a little; I still got the same amount to put together. I'm just a completionist ♥♥♥♥♥ is all.

On the positive side, it was a very beautiful game. I enjoyed the Colibri Games loading screen with the amazing hummingbird, the suddle animations of the characters, the backgrounds, etc. It was all nicely executed. I also enjoyed how difficult some of the puzzles were. My bf ended up solving some of the puzzles for me without me wanting him to, as he was watching me over my shoulder as I struggled with certain ones. The game is very reminescent, I think, of Professor Layton and similar well-done puzzle games. This game brought back my love of point-and-click games.

Subtle*.
I agree with most of this, a story would have definitely been cool instead of nearly mindless puzzles (especially at the start of the game.) Though I also thought some of the puzzles where you had to find things were very tedious. Like the train wheel was hidden inside the DIAGRAM'S wheel of the finished train. What the actual ♥♥♥♥.

Thank you for correcting my spelling?

I tended to like the puzzles where you had to find things xD I agree some of the longer ones were a tad tedious, like finding all the balls, but it was an enjoyable game. If they made a sequel or even other games, I'd be very interested in buying them.

i agree with the piece of your review for wishing there was a way to go back and find puzzle pieces you missed. Soooo frustrating. i actually read your review before trying the game and so was trying to be very careful not to complete levels until i found every single puzzle piece. Unfortunately i just hit a level (where you complete the roman numerals of a clock) . i didn't realise this was the "final puzzle" of the level had still had 3 puzzle pieces left to find when i completed it. i clicked the piece under the clock pendulum, there were still 2 other pieces in that level i hadn't found. Only as soon as i clicked that piece under the clock pendulum the level ended and it took me to the main-screen where you do the puzzle to put the world together.

i was so mad! i shut down the game right away, without doing the puzzle, hoping when i restarted it would put me even back at the beginning of the entire level, because - like you - i'm a completionist... but unfortunately, although the game flashed the level screen again when it first started, it swiftly exited back to the 'tiny bang world puzzle' without giving me time to search for those final two piece.

i probably won't play any more of the game now, because it really frustrates me to not complete everything >.< and i'm several levels into the game now and cringe at thinking of doing the absolute entire game all over again just to find those two pieces i missed.

Aside from this final-frustration, i really enjoyed the game. i liked the silent art work, i found it really soothing.

Well said. I just finished the game myself, missing a few puzzle pieces as well! GRRR! Oh well. I wonder if there are plans for a sequel or additional puzzles or something, I felt that--after 5 levels--there really should have been a lot more. I mean, that world can't be inhabited by just 5 people and a cat/lemur.

Kind of late here, but if you liked "The Tiny Bang Story", try out Amanita Design’s "Machinarium", which was the inspiration for TTBS. I see it's here on Steam.

Same style artwork, tricky puzzles, somewhat long gameplay and an actual story, kinda sorta.

They have a few other similar games, but Machinarium is probably the best.
