I believe it's because KT didn't want to cater for westerners due to the backlash they'd receive for the game. By the amount of players DOAXVV has right now, that completely looks false.

Because KT are afraid of the SJW's who throw a tantrum and think the game is objectifying women, I dunno about the rest of these perverts fine people, but I play this game strictly for the plot and had no idea the game even had females in it. >.>

They stealth released the game on Steam in hopes to avoid all the drama. You still need a VPN to download the game like K A Z Z Y said, but after that you can play it without the VPN. I'm pretty sure this is most likely the only version we're getting as I doubt KT are going to fully release it to the west. (Never say never!) They even censored it initially cutting out the ability to poke the characters in their airbags, among other places, but later added it back.

You can't get banned for it. 80% of the Steam players playing this game right now have done exactly the same thing PLUS the game is free, if it was paid then that's a different story. You don't permanently need a VPN to play the game, you just need it to install and added in your library. Just download any VPN and set the region to Asia and select a country in Asia (i.e: Pakistan, Singapore etc..) There's no DLC for this game however it's a gacha game so you have to pay money if you want to get exclusive swimsuits and accessories from drops which help you climb the leaderboards and complete events.

Exactly what I did to get/play the game:

1.Used NordVPN and connected to South Korea. (Other VPN's are available, but can't personally vouch for them.)

2. Go to the Steamdb[steamdb.info] for doaxvv[steamdb.info] and click the little "free" button in the top right corner.

3. It'll come up with the option to "launch application" so just pick "Steam Client Bootstrapper" (It'll most likely be default.) and hit "open link" (I use Firefox, so might differ with other browsers.)

4. Game will open up on your Steam client and begin to install/download. (25-odd MB)

5. Disconnect from your VPN and play the game once it's downloaded.

6. Enjoy gacha hell or heaven depending on how lucky you are or how deep your wallet goes.

In theory you could get banned.

They make a lot of money because of the Gacha mechanics. I myself have spent a furtune to end my 50h "no SSR" Gacha hell.
