It seems to get very hard to activate the game with a VPN. Anybody managed to do this in the last few days?

if yes: What VPN, country and link did you use?

I got the game on release day but I used Hotspot Shield, set my VPN to be in Pakistan and downloaded the game via Steam DB.

It should still work. I doubt they would have patched getting the game with every VPN possible.

just tried using my 4th account on a different PC, so i can confirm VPN still works

what's weird is that that account can also write a review (albeit can't post coz limited account) and open the store page (it shows up on search)
while this account can't do any of those

It was much easier to do this with an account just created for the game (nothing bought yet) than with my main account. (I used the exact same VPN both times)

I always thought it was getting harder because main account was one week later, but it just might be linked to having bought games in a specific region already...

I'm actually glad that VV accounts are linked automatically through Steam accounts only. It's impossible to gain access to someone else VV account unless they hack your Steam and that's already going to be a mission as it is if the person might have Steam Guard installed so pretty much buying a whole other Steam account would be the only way possible to play on another account.

well it's not really "just created" but yeah that account never bought anything
i can't use this account for VPN testing coz it already has the game lol

so i guess the easiest way to play the game now is by making a new account, then family share the game (?)

The way I did it was putting my VPN on to create a new Steam account, have that account's store set to a country in Asia, download the game on that account, log out, login to your main account and as the game is already installed automatically on your PC, it'll show up in your library for your main account so you just click install and you don't need the VPN anymore.

okay so i just tried, and that didnt work
if you dont "own" the game and try to press the PLAY or PURCHASE button, steam will send you to the store page where you will be greeted by "This item is currently unavailable in your region"
even if you family share the game

Strange. It worked like a charm for me.

I used Tunnel Bear and used Microsoft Edge to load the web page to add the game to my Steam library (Google Chrome still gave me the region lock error even with a VPN).

I used Tunnel Bear to Hong Kong SAR and ran Chrome Incognito to download from Steam DB, to download the client, then u can switch off tunnel bear and it will still update w/o vpn, works great, no steam achievements tho..

Guys, can I activate this game in my main account without risk of being banned, having account restrictions, or permanently losing it?

Another thing:
What are the steps to enable VPN play?
If I can activate the game via VPN, will I be able to play with the VPN disabled?

Many of us have used their main account. But YES, there is a risk.

You only need the VPN at the very beginning to activate/bring the game in to your library. After this never again.
