Strategic Command WWII: World at War

Strategic Command WWII: World at War

Shower thought - Kaiserreich Mod?
As the title says, A Kaiserreich mod for this game would be awesome. Alas I'm not a tech bro so I wouldn't be able to do it myself but here are my thoughts so far
Disclaimer: For the sake of game balance and game mechanics certain narrative opportunities will have to be passed up on/railroaded

Start date: Jan 1938

Entente - Reichspakt - Chinese United Front VS Third International - Moscow Accord - Co-Prosperity Sphere

Entente: Canada and National France as Majors; Sardinia, Union of South Africa, Australasia, Portugal, New England, Panama, Mexico and Norway as minors at game start

Reichspakt: Germany, Austria and German East Asia as majors; The Ost-Pakt, Belgium, The Austrian Crownlands, Bulgaria, Mittelafrika as Minors at game start

Chinese United Front: Zhili Clique as Major; no minors at game start

Third Int: Union of Britain, Commune of France as majors; Nicaragua as a minor at game start

Moscow Accord: Russian state as Major; Romania and Serbia as minors at game start

Co-Prosperity Sphere (CPS): Japan as major; Fengtian, Thailand and Burma as minors at game start

Normally, by 1938, half of the world in Kaiserreich is having a civil war. Strategic Command isn't exactly adept at representing side conflicts but if we take the French invasion of Mexico in SC: ACW as inspiration we can make it work. All Civil wars will have events every month with a random chance of going one way or the other. Certain decisions will affect those chances

2nd American Civil War: Federal government Vs AUS Vs CSA. Early on the Entente/Reichspakt/Third Int each have a decision as to whether they want to spend a significant amount of MPPs to support their prefered side which will increase their odds of winning.

If the Federals are supported the AUS collapse by 1939 and vice versa. Benefits of siding with the Federals are a strong navy and stronger economy in the long run. Benefits of the AUS are a bigger and more experienced initial army but weaker long-term economy. If neither are supported the CSA will be in an advantageous position when the Weltkrieg breaks out. If the Third Int doesn't support the CSA they be at a significant disadvantage when the Weltkrieg breaks out.

Once the Weltkrieg begins Canada will have the option to directly intervene in the civil war, causing the civil war to become directly playable. If the Federals were supported they become a Canadian minor; if the AUS was supported they become a German minor. The CSA becomes a UOB minor.

Spanish Civil War: CNT-FAI Vs Kingdom Vs Carlists. Like in the 2ACW the Entente/Reichspakt have the option to choose either the Carlists (Who guarantee a completely conquered but devastated Spain) or the Kingdom (Who will only manage to take the south and central parts of Spain with the CNT-FAI holding out in the north by the time the Weltkrieg breaks out)

Italian Civil War: Italian Socialist Republic Vs Italian Republic, Two Sicilies and the Papal States. Here Entente/Reichspakt/ Third Int support will guarantee that either their proxy survives till the outbreak of war. However, with so many other civil wars going on will there be enough MPPs to spare?

Indian Civil War: Dominion Vs Hyderabad Vs Bharatiya. Here the CPS support will guarantee that Hyderabad can defeat the Princely State revolt in the south, preventing a Hyderabad collapse, though you will need to fight the Dominion when the CSP declares war on the Entente in late 1941/early 1942. Third Int support will give Bharatiya more and better equipped troops and will cause the civil war to become playable at the outbreak of the Weltkrieg. Entente support will cause a Dominion revolt in Bengal, Assam and Manipur

China: China starts off as just the Zhili Clique which, all throughout 1938 and 1939 has the option to either invade or diplomatically approach other Chinese Warlords. Invading another Chinese warlord net china territory at the cost of a weaker army and reduced their mobilisation, delaying their entry into the United Front. If the Japanese declare war on a neutral Chinese faction they immediately join you as a minor.

Dutch East Indies: The Insulindian Rebellion can occur any time from game start to Mid 1938, which can then be supported by the CPS. If the rebellion succeeds the Netherlands automatically joins the Reichspakt as a minor

Argentinian Patagonian war: The Third Int can attempt to support the Patagonians/Chile in their fight against Argentina and the Reichspakt vice versa

Central Asian war: Russia will have the option to either leave their puppet Bukhara to it's fate or intervene against Khiva and Turkestan and risk a Kazak revolt

Furthermore each side will have opportunities to try to sway/keep various neutral and/or minors to their side.

Third Int: Greece, Sweden, Honduras, Guatemala, West Indies federation, Ireland, iceland, Mittelafrika, Liberia
Moscow Accord: Finland, Lithuania, Poland
Co-Prosperity Sphere: Philippines, Mongolia, Tibet

Reichspakt: Sweden, Finland, Lithuania, Poland, Greece, Ireland, Denmark, Iceland, Mittelafrika
Entente: Morocco, West Indies federation, Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, Philippines, Ireland, Iceland, Liberia

A few miscellaneous events:

The formation of the Free Russian Army by Germany at the start of the war, giving it territory as it advances into Russia
The Copenhagen conference - reduced mobilisation of the Reichspakt and Third Int if both accept, delaying the war from Mid-Late 1939 to Early 1940
Collapse of Mittelafrika - if Germany loses too much territory and the Third Int invests in African rebels Mittelafrika may collapse in on itself

Basically the gameplay will go like this:
1938-1939: Each side trying to balance supporting their proxies around the world with domestic military development and research
1939/1940: The Weltkrieg breaks outs in Europe, Entente/Reichspakt declare war on Third Int and Moscow accord. In Asia CPS declares war on Reichspakt
1941/1942: Most civil wars should be playable by now and/or wrapped up. CPS declares war on the Entente

Any other Kaiserreich fans feel free to develop the idea further

One major problem you'll encounter, is that the game engine does not support more than two sides (factions). So the multipolar nature of the world of Kaiserreich is not really easy to represent, unless you wanted to do many smaller 1 one 1 scenarios. You would have to have all nations in the world ultimately on one side or another.

Regarding the 2ACW; if you play Hex of Steel (similar to Strat Com), I have created a Kaiserreich 2ACW mod, with both a classic 2ACW scenario and a Up With the Stars submod scenario.
Would be a great project. Breadboy makes a good point about the difficulties of representing a multipolar world in SC's format. You could probably make this work by abstracting the world into "pro-Germany" and "anti-Germany" factions.

The former would be the Reichspakt, Entente, and Chinese United Front.
The latter could be Third Internationale, Moscow Accords, and Co-Prosperity Sphere.

Might take some clever manipulation of events and neutrality rules, but I can see it working.

Yeh no that's why I would ideally split the two sides into the Entente/Reichspakt/Chinese United Front VS Third Internationale/Moscow Accord/Co-Prosperity sphere

I also just realised there's an in-game editor exists so ♥♥♥♥ it, imma give this idea a shot
