Strategic Command WWII: World at War

Japan's Occupation of Indochina
I just find it strange that it spawns 0 units in Indochina if you acquire it through the scripted event, even if the price was hiked to compensate i think it be better to spawn at least a garrison in the capital. It is quite possible for the chinese player to walk in and capture it instantly because of how the event fires on the end of the turn. Or at least have the game warn you that it will be defenseless and you have to capture it manually if Nanning is not under japanese control.

Edit: Alternatively, make the event fire on the start of the turn(if possible) and make it player responsibility to move a unit in, it is just awkward that it happens at the end with no response, realistically even if you capture the surrounding territory, if the chinese got paratroopers(i presume its in the build que), they could always cheese you.

The Chinese don't have any paratroops in the official campaigns.

However, I can see that a Chinese unit in Nanning could march south to take Hanoi. I take it this is the danger you are referring to?

I'll make a note to consider a change here.

Yea, in my game I never captured Nanning as I focused on other things. I didnt know china can't build para as I been playing axis, i just presumed they could, fair enough on that. So yea, a fringe case with Nanning then.

Only tangentially related, but I find it weird you need to capture Hong kong for Thailand to join? I feel like this could be more clearly expressed as japan gets roadblocked pretty good if they dont get thialand but nowhere do you get told about hong kong being so important(and unlike other colonies it does not seem to join on its own term from japan/UK war.

TLDR being, i forgot it existed and roadblocked me because of that.

Hong Kong is in there to check that Japan is/has started its attack on the British Empire.
Hong Kong should declare war then with the UK, or it should just check for being at war with UK. It really is not a big deal but i could imagine someone who isn't used to history straight up forgetting about hong kong, no event mentions it and its kinda a footnote on the map. (that said, having captured it now, the garrison is really weak so it doesnt take a lot to correct, once a player knows they need it)
When does the Indochina event spawn? I just got a port near Hanoi and that was it. I finally just declared on them and took them over as Japan.

I feel like the Japan part of the game could use a little work as Japan is not that threatening. Europe seems to run very well.

Japan has the opportunity to take over the rest of Indochina on the 29th July 1941, see DE 808 in the Strategy Guide for further details.

There is lots of other useful information in the Strategy Guide, so it is well worth looking at.

What's worse is that thailand starts with 0 units. Quite unhistorical.

probably to reflect Thailands limited involvement in the war
