Strategic Command WWII: World at War

Strategic Command WWII: World at War

Tips?
Hi.

Anyone have some good tips for playing early-ish game Axis (Poland through to Barbarossa) and handling Research?

I've read the guide but I still feel like I'm missing some things. What are some go-to things you usually do in this early stage of like first 8-12 turns.

It feels like as Allies you have much more wiggle room whereas as Axis you need to pre-plan (*especially* the early game) far more, so any tips for handling the important early campaigns is appreciated

Its almost impossible to take poland in 1 turn but it can be done.I do it in 2 but I dont waste attacks on the poles unless it leads to warsaw,it just causes unnescisary loses.I send out all the UBOATS into the UK Cand.shipping lanes right away because the UK and France arnt at war until their move. But you have to be careful. It only takes the allies 2 to 3 turns to respond.Keep moving them around until France falls then you can use their ports and the French fleet is gone.Build up the training of the German inf. and armour while you wait for spring. You can move your ground forces west or redeploy them but this cost money which you dont have a lot of.When Norway falls I ship out all units that arnt needed to garrison it.I have never seen any Allied player try to fight there with the limited forces they have.Attack Belgium Luxb. Netherlands when your ready all at once, then continue into northern France.Build up the Italians to full strenght to hit france too.You should be able to take it bt AUG. or Sept.Any chance you get to kill British units in France is also recommend. When France is gone start working on attacking Yugoslavia and Greece but also moving the main
German forces to prepare to hit Russia.keep reseaching better German armour and inf and fighters too.You can send the fleet out to cut supplies to Russia but this can backfire with the royal navy. You will never have any money to build more Surface ships.Make sure the Italians build up their forces in Libia and eithiopia. In china build garrtisons to replace combat units in Mancuria.and just start pounding the Chinese killing as many units each turn as possible and build up your Carriers they are very helpful attacking in China.Good luck.

Thanks!

Do you have any thoughts on other research priorities to take for the Axis powers?

What is the MP community like anyways? ( Like: How's the balance between the two sides in a match? Favors Allies the longer it goes on and even early on in some ways but France, Yugoslavia, Poland, Ethiopia, and Libya are guaranteed to fall?
Reseach upgrades to inf, panzers fighters, subs and it helps to invest in industry in the long game for germany.Flak is a good cheap defence for your production areas. As for Japan artillary helps a lot in China plus upgrades to navy and flak for the navy.build up the subs too.Your main problem in the Pacific will be the US fleet.Consontrait your navy totally when you fight them and use maritime bombers againest them they get 2 strikes each.also research long range air.I always can get a match going as soon as I post a game.the skill of the players out there is mostly good to great but some are poor.Right now im playing 8 MP games as both the allies and axies. There are no guaranntys to taking any countrys for the axies Ive seen some players send more Italins to ethiopia before they join the war and some axis players refuse to accept French surrender, which is a big mistake. The french navy and colonies add greatly to the English war effort. As the axis you must keep attacking as much as possible early on or you will be overwelmed by the UK, USA and USSR. INDIA also becomes a major player,it has good quality troops.CHINA just needs to stay in the game .It ties down a lot of Troops.
Taking Poland in 1 or 2 turns has its pros and cons both ways.

Do it in 1 turn, you get the money earlier and can start moving units towards France. (Look for Youtube multiplayer videos for how to do it.)

But if you do it in turn 1, the Russians don't have time to start invading Poland (It happens at the start of turn 2). It means that Russian mobilization stays up (if they invade Poland, it drops a bit), so they have more money for research and units before Barbarossa.
