As nobody is answering...

Don't hold it against me, but I would describe these as intermediate grand strategy, with more emphasis on combat, limited to axis vs allies with "scripted events" that imo help the game feel more authentic.

Hearts of Iron meets Panzer Corps.
A little less deep than HOI, but almost as easy to get into as PC.

If you are not into hardcore sandbox "lets see if Albania can win WW2 in ETO and nuke the USA first" gamplay, this game series has a lot to offer.

I'll be honest I have too many games and too little spare time, but I really regard both the new hex based SCWW2WIE and classic square based SCCWW1 as some of the nicest strategy games I have played - easy to get into, quick to enjoy, yet authentic and challenging enough.

Looking forward to the Global theatre of the new hex based game, especially as Japan or the US in the PTO - that alone warrants my purchase.

....

IMO :doicross:

It's like Panzer Corps on a grand scale. No micromanagement like HoI. Great games throughout the whole series. And great dev support. If you check youtube there's some AAR's for sure you can check out from the previous games in the series. Those will give you an idea of the concept.

sold!
The description says mod support for what ifs and different eras with up to ten major powers.

Sounds like it's a modders sandbox at least.

Yes, the Editor that comes with the game is very powerful and will allow modders to change most aspects of the game.

You can use it to design new maps, and to make new scenarios for different wars, e.g. we have modders using our previous games making ACW, Napoleonic and even a 16th century Conquistador campaign, along with other WWII campaigns.

Not forgetting a post-WWII campaign that starts in 1946 with the western Allies fighting the USSR, designed by Harry Kellogg who has written a number of alternative history books on the subject.

It would be very fun to have a random map generator. :)

Been wanting a game like this for quite some time. More complex than Gary Grisby World at war or less?

hmm. I can't decide if thats a good thing or bad been so long since I played GGWW. I remember that being pretty simple but fun. It just runs terribly in win 10 or I would play it again.

They are great games, some of the best ever have been player mods from SC players!
