Tips And Tricks Thread
I wonder what are your tips and tricks, guide type info, things you wish you knew before you knew what you now know. Pretty much anything that would be helpful to keep in mind starting out and even progressing...

Learn how to transcribe manuals from other laws (do all the quests from the area around your base, they are scripted beginner quests), learn all the max Qi ones by studying from a manual pavilion pre-Golden Core forming.

There's a guide floating around which includes maps you can enter for various medicines/qi gathering items that are otherwise difficult to get early game. At the very least see if you can grab the "free" earth flux from gemspring cave which you find by adventuring to Mt. Shu.

Either way, eat all the qi increasing items you can get for your first GC (probably ganoderm/red ginsing from farming herbs, and maybe 1-2 earth flux bought or found on the gemspring map). Eat spirit stone/qi regen pill before the GC attempt and learn how to make cultivation diamond.

X is your cultivation cushion, Q is whatever appropriate element Qi gathering item you can get or just basic items for feng shui, S is spirit wood.

Those things will turn your initial cultivator (make sure he has 50+ qi sense at least, must be a human) from a worthless GC6 that basically requires you restart into a GC2 fairly easily.

Basically having that as a starting point means you can make quite a few other mistakes but keep playing your initial save. If your first GC turns out garbage, it's probably better just to restart. Your GC is kind of like a permanent baseline for how good your cultivator can get later. Doing everything reasonable to boost before forming it helps you a lot.

Early
-Qi Gathering of objects
-Skill transcribing and basically learning everything
-Adventuring, camping and entering the map
-Consumables which boost max qi
-Body remolding miracles

Mid
-Spectre Refining
-Other Laws
-Tribulations
-Ascension
-Chatting mini game (for manuals and secrets)

Late
-Secrets and Ancient Beasts
-Inner cauldron
-Sub-spirit set
-Awakening
-Sentient Spirit

Let me know if i should wrap any of these in spoilers. I tend to forget what is common knowledge and what is hidden after figuring out so many of these deep mechanics.

Build the observatory to see Feng Shui.

Make sure to do the first few quests when they show up, namely the ones to go to the nearby village, Mt Full Moon and Mt Copper as they are the "show you the ropes quests".

Send someone to the city every now and then for early recruitment, take everyone for now unless they're maimed, as you can send them away later.

After the quests are done around day ~30, you can start recruiting directly from city agencies making that easier. Make agencies produce wheat so that they can run charity and be self sufficient, the flag in the topright grows tons of wheat and set that one to manual labor to be your breadbasket for other agencies

You can also enter the Taiyi Ruins map around now, do this my camping there and hitting enter (with someone present). Theres tons of iron and marble.

You'll likely want at least 1 dedicated cook and crafter that you'll never promote, make sure the crafter has at least 9 int and no bad traits like lazy on workers.

For cultivation, set stands around a cushion. Stuff like spiritwood will say Qi gathering that you'll want near their cultivation spot so place that on the stands.

Once you have a few people promoted to the inner sect you can start sending people to explore. Flags and sects will have a % explored that you'll want to increase to 100% to unlock locations.

Send a gift of 1 spirit stone to unlock trade with sects.

Anyway, thats everything you need to know to get your sect off the ground.

If you have trouble, most things are also covered by the in-game tutorials although I'd recommend only doing the parts you have trouble with to avoid being overwhelmed.

You can fix this with the rebirth pill. I never worry about first GC tier as you get a rebirth pill for free.

1. Visit Nanping Village when the quest starts for the 'agency'.

2. Build agencies everywhere. They gather millions and thousands of inspiration which you need to learn skills. The sooner you do it. The more powerful you get. It also gives you the option to recruit 10-100 people from cities. Which is a lot faster than waiting for someone to good to visit your sect.

3. Qi Sense is just as important as compatibility, when choosing a cultivator.

4. Some locations only give stuff if your cultivator has high luck. Make sure one of your guys has high luck.

5. Build your money making buildings early to sell to the merchant. IE. cotton/fabric or spirit bows.

6. No, you cannot sell offcuts. Not even if you have 1000 wood offcuts. They sell for 0.

7. Place your stockpiles close to your workshops.

8. Explore the map as early as possible.

9. Take it slow. Don't do any events that raise sect reputation like killing a bunch of beasts, throwing the mortal realm into turmoil, stealing artifacts from other people, or fighting an evil or just cultivator.

Ignore all of them. And they will ignore you.

10. Golden Core and Core Shaping can help fix disasters by visiting the area that's affected.

11. You have to inspect the auction ticket before you can actually go to the auction.

12. Raise your reputation with other sects as fast as possible so you can buy their secret manuals.

13. Build layout is somewhat important. If you want your base to look nice. Plan it out. Look at the artwork section of this game. (the tabs right above) to get an idea of nice looking bases.

You can also just look up floor plans of temples and palaces to get an idea of what it should look like.

14. And lastly, the manual pavillion lets you learn any skill that you put in it. Including skills from other laws. So you can have a fire cultivator learn water skills as long as you put it in the manual.

It's like a pokemon. You want to mix and match for the best result.

is how it should be. The game uses trigonometry to find the range, much like how actual feng shui does; if you've ever seen the eight-point feng shui star, which is a square and a diamond overlapping, you'd recognize that it matches with this layout, as well.

Additionally, https://amazing-cultivation-simulator.fandom.com/wiki/Qi_Gathering details more items that can be used to replace the spiritwood as you get them, as it's simply the cheapest and most easily available 4-range item you can get, at the start. No idea what a "spirit pagoda" is, as I haven't seen it in any topics or guides, but it has a monstrous range of 7, which is real nice.

The wikipedia you linked. Shows his design to be correct. And yours to be wrong.

Edit: Looking closer. The corners of your square are not correct for the range of spiritwood according to the wikipedia.

People are saying range 4 has the extra diagonal, at the corners.

Range 3 has 1 diagonal, range 4 has diagonal range of 2, so 3 diagonals per side.

The wikipedia linked does not show that.

It is showing the extra diagonal as range 5.

Or maybe I'm just not reading this properly.
Halfshell Dec 14, 2020 @ 12:44pm
Either what people are saying are wrong or the wiki is wrong. Easiest way to know is to test, theres a Qi vision mod. Edit:

Wiki does contradict what people are saying. Although its weird because it has the diagonals for 5 so I am inclined to believe that for the ratio to be correct that 4 would have that diagonal.

The pattern is fairly consistent:
Range 1: Itself
Range 2: Adjacent (no diagonal)
Range 3: 2 away, 1 diagonal (diamond shape).
Range 4: 3 away, diagonal range of 2 (shape bends)
Range 5: 4 away, diagonal range of 2 (bends further)
Range 6: should thus be 5 away with diagonal range of 3.
(idk if range 6 exists but as a hypothetical that could be added)
----5---- ---4--- --3-- -2- 1 --55455-- -44344- -323- 212 -5443445- -43234- 32123 -2- -5432345- 4321234 -323- 543212345 -43234- --3-- -5432345- -44344- -5443445- ---4--- --55455-- ----5----
Thus it becomes more and more circular.

That's how we know that it's a square and diamond overlapping as I showed; people tested it out and reported it. Even showed the math, though I don't remember it off the top of my head; just memorized that it's the corners, and then looked into it and found out it's related to how Feng Shui works IRL too. The strict diamond range is from the initial testing runs during the beta where it was discovered that qi-gathering range includes the tile that the item is on (so a range of 4 is only to three tiles away).

The Qi Gathering page is only useful atm for the list of materials and their ranges. That, or go back to the previous iteration that had it correct but only showed it out to range 4. https://amazing-cultivation-simulator.fandom.com/wiki/Qi_Gathering?oldid=2026 It could be that Gaddhi screwed it up when he changed it to show the range 5 in the diagram.

Weird.

See, I always assumed it was "number of spaces it can move, no diagonal jumps, includes the space it starts on". By that logic, the "rounder" shape is true. The qi gathering mod shows the rounder shape to be correct as well.

The wiki says otherwise, and the source it references is chinese and only shows the diamond shape without it being rounded. I passed it through google translate, but no where could I see it actually explaining the ranges only some very detailed formulas on the amount of qi generated in a location. Probably responsible for the "qi burst" concept I've seen mentioned where you can manipulate qi in a spot by placing/removing qi generators just outside its range.

Pick a good seed with A lot of Spirit Soil.(will appear blueish on minimap)

Mine out all of the Mountains , they hide acient caskets. I got Supreme Law from one and a bunch of very precious talismans early game(Divine Mind).

Don't be shy to plant a big Wheat Field in the first year , the harvest first year is half of what it should be , because the field has to go trough 2 stages of growth instead of 1.

Don't fuss about your core level early , the important part is unlocking all of the skills from all schools as soon as possible and transcribing them into your pavilion , up to golden core level at very least.

Before Investing into Yougai check the date of tribulation , if it's below 200 days , don't bother.

Save your Forming Pill, it gives 30% buff to all stats, it can help your pawns to get a better core rating if their stats aren't maxed. It's basically a cheat pill.

I strongly suggest taking Fire Earth first to create a quick synergy and second to get crucial refinement skills Like Spectral Refinement.
Start Farming Earth Flux(via spirit trees), Red Ginseng and Geoneda , wicked flux is not that important , because it slows down your practice considerably , characters have hard time getting good mental state after consuming wicked flux.

Give your cultivators mental state Talismans ( you can also Refine Talismans to grade 12 for boosted stats)
90% quality sword talisman of grade 8 gives 460% artifact power , grade 12 Talisman gives 780%
With Cave Mind Talisman you can easily give your pawn permament 80+ Mental State.

Once you have unlocked post golden core abilities ,
You can rebirth and prepare your pawns for better stats.
Cast Soul Infection Give them Eternity Pills (refined possibly) then give them Bane pills, undo Soul Infection. Should get stats in 8+ zone , best works on characters with even stat distribution.

Don't bother using the "Train" option , farm inspirations by collecting belief from villages. You get millions of experience every trip if you manage 2-3 towns correctly.

Cities let you choose from 100's of Recruits , so it's nice to get them up and running early.

Don't participate (as a contender) in the yearly Kunklun Clan competition, it can give you up to 4000 reputation points if you win , which is bad... however sooner or later you're gonna want the supreme Laws anyway.

I'd be surprised if they didn't know as they have had access to the game longer. 1 thing I have wondered about is: Is Qi gathering weaker the further it is away from the Qi gathering material? Since element is weaker the further it is away, even the range 5 tree only makes a slight wood element at 4 spaces away (yes the tree has a Feng Shui range of 5 too, thats visible in-game).
