How to go back?

Hi, I want to go back to the start of a level or to the previous one. In few discussions here people say that all levels are connected and you can go back at any time. Just go to the start and squeeze in. I can't! Even in the middle of the level (Uranium Mines) a metal door has closed behind and blocks me. The new learned dash doesn't work and there is not tunnel to go. I looked at the maps found in some guides. No success. Can anyone help, please? Thanks!

for the first part of the game, go only forward, because during the passage you will sometimes return to the early sections and open them (previously, for example, there were not enough abilities). you will be able to move more freely later.

I've played the game up to this point again. you need a hazardous waste landfill after the uranium mines. previously, you didn't have enough mass to get there as I said earlier.

Some levels you can only get back to later in the game, also don't go through the initial hive but through the opened up exit after beating the level.
