So... apparently the spiders are back...
Why?

Just... why?

I am a massive arachnophobe. And before anyone tells me to toughen up, phobias aren't as simple as that.

Any chance of a mod that will edit those nightmares out?

In 2020 no less, who'da thunk it? Disposable shooters is what people want.

I can handle tension and fear and being startled. Arachnophobia is a visceral, instinctual DISGUST. It's like eating feces with your eyes.

They said spiders were "too hard to make" for RE2 so I doubt they will be in this game either

So far only the crows have been more or less confirmed.

Are you sure the spiders are back? Where did you get this info? If true then that is some much needed good news.
creating spiders in the RE Engine is not only difficult but it requires photoscanning a realistic tarantula spider in which NO ONE wants to handle that job because arachnophobia is a common fear these days. Aside from that, it doesn't fit with the modern approach of the REimagine RE2 and RE3 games since spiders fit into the B-horror film cheese category. They were also completely avoidable and almost never bothered to attack you outright

I'd rather the spiders be scrapped and something different be in. Giant spiders was always lazy, and doesn't fit super well with everything else.

The same as small ones only huge. Plus ♥♥♥♥ hyper-realistic spiders... Anything but give some fresh new content instead or some new "virus" mutations to something else.

They do fit. It's to show that Umbrella ran experiments on a large array of different species which yielded differing results, and then most of the test subjects got loose and started running amok all over the city. Next you're going to tell me that the giant snake and shark in REmake didn't make sense, but the extremely unrealistic science-fiction monstrosity that is called Tyrant did. lol

My point was more the "same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing" but bigger is pretty lazy when the plot is almost entirely about extreme mutations. Having multiple creatures with that as the gimmick is rather ♥♥♥♥.

They did not during the Raccoon City Incident. Those were classified as irregular mutants, not BOWs, since the outbreak was an accidental leak. Also, giant spiders in the sewers didn't make sense in a realistic approach. No spider would nest and live in a place filled with sewage and water.
The ones that were BOWs was in RE0 and RE1 because those were experimented on to see if they were good bio weapons. It failed and was terminated after the Mansion Incident

Why do all of the enemies have to be extreme mutations though? By that logic, the developers should take out all of the generic zombies and replace them with something far more elaborate since they are just walking human corpses and not mutated monstrosities(until they become Lickers). I guess they could add the Las Plagas infected villagers from RE4 in their place!

It's a fictional sci-fi horror story. The writer could literally just write that the spiders' genetic mutation caused them to exhibit abnormal behavior.
