Perfect Dodging is hit or miss
Okay. 4+ days. I've been practicing and practicing the dodge in this game and it's just SO hit and miss. After I practice and I think I've got it, I try again and it doesn't work any more. Does anyone else find dodging in RE3 frustrating? I can't dodge. I get bit and I'm using up health items like crazy. And this is on normal mode. Ready to puss out and just play assisted mode because I'm getting so frustrated after 4+ days of trying to get the perfect dodge down. I've watched dozens of videos and even when they say they have it down, they then get bit. lol.

It's tricky enough to not become an 'avoid all attacks' tool if you perfect it.

It's intended for bossfights where the movement is clearly visible. Zombies and especially tentacle heads are not easy to read.

Sorry but there is no such a randomness in dodge mechanic. There is an animation frame window, you just have to learn your enemies attacks.

For example with zombies is about when they rise their arms to grab you.

Some are tricky, specially the tentacle parasites.

I've been watching that animation and when I seem to get the timing down, the next time it doesn't work.

Must be my 50+ year old reflexes. They just aren't the same as they used to be. lol

maybe its because im a dark souls veteran but i had no issues with the dodge. playing as jill i felt invincible, but i did mess up a ton with carlos for a little bit

I suggest you record some of your attempts with Nvidia Shadowplay or other software, and watch it back in so mo.

I did that with Nemesis and actually learned the game is quite forgiving with the dodge windows, as it allowed me to dodge even as his fist passed right through Jill's model.

Even if there is a certain window to their tentacle attacks, I insist that trying to dodge them is a waste of time. Always more of a guessing game than skill

With the tentacle ones, it is better to use the sound they do to learn the dodge window. Still, if im not wrong there are two different tentacle attacks, one is faster and one is slower. That makes dodging them way more difficult because it is not easy at all to know wich one is gonna use.

Normal and hardocre is frustrating (zombies are really slow) but on Nigthmare and Infernal is more ejoyable dodge, zombies are really quickly and they are always walking on your direction. At least for me was more easy dodge on Infernal than Normal or hardcore (Even on asssited the dodge is frustrating)

On assisted, normal and hardcore the game code had more closer the zombie is more chance you had but if the zombie only if the zombie is going to attack you, (the zombie grab must be in less than 1m to be activated) But the game code says if the zombie is less than 1m and is going to attack you you can dodge him. So a zombie, less than a metter is an auto-grab and the only way to dodge him is Space+S , Space+A or D otherwise you will launch yourself to his hands.

On Nigthmare and Infernal is the same but the zombie grab is activated in less than 2 m cause they will got an speed boost so you can dodge him more easy. Try to learn the dodge mechanic on Nigthmare. Maybe is more easy for you

If you want to perfect dodge as Jill or Carlos you have to time the dodge right, 1 millisecond more or less and the zombie will grab you. In my opinion as Carlos is harder because if you dont time the dodge at the right moment the zombie will grab you, as Jill is easier.

It wouldn't be as bad if it wasn't absolutely crucial to finish nigthmare and inferno and that's the problem.

You can use an item to increase dodge window though.

But I have never used it. With practice, it becomes second nature.

Well, I've given up after 4+ days of practice. lol. I just attempt it and if it works, it works. lol

With Nemesis, take into account he uses two types of attacks: instant ones and delayed.

To dodge the first ones press dodge button as soon as the attack animation starts. To dodge the second ones you have to wait half a second before pressing the button.

There is also a super-slow attack he performs in the flamethrower battle. Practice, practice.

He is definitely easier to dodge. It's the stupid zombies that crowd areas I can't escape. I try to conserve bullets so I want to resort to dodging. Other areas that are wider, I can lure them away. But it's those tight areas with multiple zombies (or even 1) that cause me issues and I want to dodge them and get out of there. I don't even care if it's a perfect dodge or not. Just so I can dodge can get away to conserve ammo. lol

It is not necessary to dodge all of them, there is not enough ammo to kill all enemies in Inferno, but it is close, you can kill most of them.

If you dont have shotgun nor any other power weapon, the best strategy against tentacle zombies that block your way is to cripple them from far away with the pistol shooting to the leg and then, when grounded, kill the parasite.

Most of them can be avoided though if you are fast.

If you cant performe the perfect dodge you can always use the "knife parry" just aim the knife press "S" and shoot Jill will take a sept foward, she will attack and then she will go back, even if you got a hit you wont get stuned or get any kind of damage, you can also use this on the final figth (but is a little bit mor harde to use) But definitly dont waste time trying to dodnge on Normal or Hardocre, the code is a mess up in those difficulties to activate the perfect dodge.

On Infernal and Nigthmare the zombies will try to grab you more quickly so you can use the
perfect dodge many times with a succes rate of 80% (even if they are crowl zombies)

On infernal and nigthmare the knife parry dosent work well. i dont recomend you use it.
