Brain Sucker was originally planned to be in RE 3 Remake!
Hello everyone, I've been browsing through the game files recently and look what I've found! Is that Brain Sucker from original RE3? Sorry for crappy image quality cuz I tried to adjust my render settings in Maya.

Here's Drain Deimos for comparision: https://imgur.com/6jRmTXK and https://imgur.com/AIPFNZG
Here's the unused model of Brain Sucker: https://imgur.com/2re7JDB and https://imgur.com/xTfG5mb

If you compare the unused model of Brain Sucker with Drain Deimos, you can see distinct differences. This is a completely different model. Take a look at the mouth, limbs, etc. Interestingly, Brain Sucker only has one LOD model, while the Drain Deimos and other enemy models features multiple LOD levels, which explains that CAPCOM decided to scrap the Brain Sucker entirely.

UPDATE:

Here are some better quality renders:

Why do they scrap content in the first place? To meet the deadline?

Possible. But it could also be, that they had no Idea how to integrate or make them unique? In the Original they were more or less a tougher variant of the Drain Deimos imo.

concepts get created and rejected all the time.

It's probably early designs for the drain demos which got scrapped later.

Kinda, yes. They were like the Sweepers in Code Veronica. Similar in HP, Damage and combat style, but additional with the ability to poison you.

But atleast they had a unique look that went further than just swapping green skin to red skin.

Possible, but this model closely resembles their 1999's appearance https://imgur.com/fuzZjU7

They played us like a damn fiddle.

Seeing how the game ended up I'd say they failed to program even a remotely decent AI for it (it should be able to climb walls etc) even having licker AI as a base and decided to leave it out altogether.

I wonder if RE 3 Remake would turn out different if it was fully produced by Yoshiaki Hirabayashi. He did quite a good job with RE 2 Remake, despite having the inconsistent scenario and some missing enemies.

I think what kills me most is scripted Nemmy's AI. Mr. X was so fully fleshed out and expanded.

They also scrapped the REmake2 Half-Zombie/Half-Licker mutations, which looked terrifying.
We still got Drain Deimos in the this version. They were only in one area, but they were interesting as an enemy as they could lay eggs in you and you had to heal by force or you would die. So if you were doing a no-healing run (You have to heal at least once, the game forces you), you couldn't make any mistakes. I am glad they actually only put them in one area of the game instead of scattered them through the city. At least they had a nest and a purpose.

In the main game (RE3:Nemesis) they appear 4 times in different locations if i am not mistaking (3 if the enemy randomizer chooses Spiders in the Clock Tower).

It's not a concept if it was in the original game, a concept is an idea.

And blood sucker already existed, so no.. It's not a concept.
