carlos was born in 1977 so he was 21
Carlos and Jill are young so I'm guessing in their early to mid twenties
Tyrell and Nicholai are in their 30s
Mikhail is like 50
Kendo is in his 40s
Marvin is in his 30s
Murphy is in his 20s
Dario is like 60
Brad is like 20s or 30s
Dr.Brad is like 60
They do seem to be way over 20 in the remake, but looks are no indication tbh. Carlos being only 21 is quite the stretch though, being a rather hardened merc and all that takes a bit more experience.
as for benson mokhtar the face model for carlos he looks like he is in his 40s
You look like a witch.
He is resourceful and doesn't make typical rookie-mistakes. He's even questioning orders. While that can come off as naive, it can also come off as a merc realizing that the job was just a cover for something else. Rookies don't think that far. Someone new to a corps is typically rather scared of disobeying orders or acting on their own.
Ignore Capcom's official ages for characters because they are laughable. Based on looks, experience and personality for RE3R characters:
- Jill is more like 33ish. Even in the original, Jill comes off as being around 30.
- Carlos is 35ish, especially with the classic haircut (he looks like an actor in a spanish soap opera). Probably like 24 in the original.
- Nicholai is at the very least pushing 50, and in the original too. The guy is a grizzled veteran who has probably been in at least the Soviet-Afghan campaign (1979-89), where he was already special ops by that point (in Spetsnaz terms you must have prior combat experience). The whole point of these Russian characters is this idea that Russian military professionals often went private in the early post-USSR years, which was a popular idea in the 1990s.
- Mikhail is probably a few years older than Nicholai, 50 at least.
- Tyrell is probably 35-40, and same in original.
- Brad is early 30s.
- Murphy is probably 30ish.
- Kendo looks like mid-40s, same in original.
I'm a 30 year old North American male, and I've certainly noticed more about the aging process works in general as I get older (and after watching other people get older). Of course this is a video game and the details can be whatever, but if you want to analyze it realistically then you can just tell some peoples' age ranges based on certain factors. In my opinion, the two key factors are personality maturity and physical build. This is all generally speaking and there are always exceptions, but in my opinion, both Jill and Carlos seem older than I am.
And yes of course this is just a video game where all of the details are fictional, though art does imitate life.
Good post. I'm 31 myself and I found myself thinking the same thing - that both Jill and Carlos are, at the very least, close to my own age. They've gotta be somewhere between 30-35.
Certainly not 21-24. Anybody saying such a thing can't be taken seriously.
Well Jill was born in 1974 so she is much older than us in the more recent events (RE Village)
RE3 takes place many years ago in the past, when things were just starting becoming a mess everywhere with the Biohazard
It's highly unlikely that very young men and women in their early 20's are getting assigned to elite police divisions (STARS) or working as hardened mercenaries like Carlos. You'd need plenty of experience before advancing to STARS, and you'd need plenty of real experience to be accepted as a mercenary.
