The Hunter B (Betas) problem
So, I'm just casually strolling along in my Hardcore no death run and all of a sudden I reach an impass. Want to know what?

Hunter. ♥♥♥♥ing. Betas.

Now I may be missing something here or it's just a case of the "git gud" but I'm sorry... who the actual ♥♥♥♥ in their right minds on the dev team decided that placing an enemy which does all of the following was a good and fun idea?:

1. Is extremely fast and hard to hit headshots on, can close the distance on you very quickly, giving you little room to work with

2. Can literally 1-shot you

3. Can tank an absurd amount of damage and can only be killed quickly and effectively by explosives or extremely damaging weapons (that is if you hit them or just throw a grenade at them)

4. Has to be killed from headshots if you lack powerful weapons (which Carlos seems to do at the first encounter)

5. Generally hits like a truck with it's normal attacks (on Hardcore anyway)

So. In light of this, is there something key I'm missing to dealing with these ♥♥♥♥ers (as Carlos, you can just spam them with the grenade launcher as Jill, thank God..) and I'm just a scrub? Or was the dev team on drugs when they added them and I'm pretty much ♥♥♥♥ed for the no death runs? Not like that matters much now anyway...

Yea... that's kind of the problem. I'm out.

Dodge is your friend, although they are extremely hard to predict and fake you out all the time with their lunges forwards and backwards. They are a pain to deal with as Carlos, but even on hardcore you should find enough flashbangs to chuck one at the beginning of every hunter encounter which is usually enough time to crack their head armor and expose their brainy bits

Problem is Carlos gets hardly any grenades in the hospital. One in the locker room which you should use to take out the two of them in the next room, and I think two more in the fuse room after the hunter busts the door down during the siege

I didn't find them too bad but I can understand what you mean about carlos, you don't feel as safe dealing with them during his sections on higher difficulties.

Still its not bad when you know they are coming and save those items for those fights, should have enough to do that.

the one room where you get the cassette tho... that room did kinda make me super tense now that I think about it.

They can be annoying with Carlos because he only has the AR, but with Jill and the shotgun is quite easy.

Well, guess what room just ended my no-death run. :yaranaika:

yea the stupid door acts dumb and they inconsistently react when you entered the room.

I always managed to survive it but it did always concern me walking up to it, especially since you can see them through the glass as you are coming up to it.

Carci has a Hardcore No Damage S Rank run (no damage means no deaths, of course) so you could take some cues from that and practice the rooms yourself.

It is hard to dodge by Carlos. His dodge will rush to the hunter to suicide.
The first one, I use machine gun. The others, I use grenades.
I am not sure how many grenades in hardcore has.

Carlos only gets 3 or 4 grenades throughout his whole campaign on hardcore.
One in the RPD
One in the Hospital locker room with the two zombies, next to the room with the two hunters
One or two, cant remember which, in the room off the hospital lobby during the zombie siege

He does get quite a few flashbangs though which are also good for gunning down Hunters with headshots while they are blinded.

EDIT: Or more importantly you also don't even need to fight the two in the tape room, stunning with a flashbang and grabbing the tape and getting out is a decent option if you're having a rough time for some reason and are low on ammo.

Probably been mentioned already but go for double stacked magazine asap as Carlos....it helps. But yea otherwise gonna have to use that punch of yours effectively.
