Why capcom redesigned jill with less sex appeal and removed the skirt from classic outfit
First they come after sex appeal, violence and gore will be next. Vote with your wallet.

When you start to legitimize that "sexy female outfits in games teaches men to not respect women and become "misogynists" soon "violence and gore in games makes people violent and teaches them to become murders" will follow.

Capcom has self-censored before, they removed R.Mika’s butt slap and other similar animations in street fighter v to avoid "offending players".

Street Fighter 5 – R.Mika butt slap removed to avoid making players uncomfortable – Ono

In a recent update to the Street Fighter 5 beta, Capcom decided to tweak some player animations for R.Mika and Cammy by removing some gratuitous shots showing butt slaps and crotch close-ups.

According to producer Yoshinori Ono, the move was done to make sure the game can be accessible to as many players as possible, without offending or alienating anyone.

“Our objective with Street Fighter 5 is to start over from zero,” Ono told UOL Jogos [Portuguese], as translated by one NeoGAF member.

“We want the professional players and the casual fans of the series to return, but we also want to reach those who have never even touched a fighting game. So we can’t have something in the game that makes people think, ‘This is not acceptable.'”

Ono added that these changes weren’t made under any external pressure, but were rather internal decisions to ensure the game doesn’t make anyone uncomfortable.

“Probably we won’t be able to remove everything that could offend someone. But our goal is, at least, to reduce that number as much as possible so that they think ‘Ok, there is this issue here, but it is within the limits.’ We want that everyone can play and enjoy without worrying about anything else.”

Jill's redesign is not a coincidence, it is a self-censor trend, look at sony's new policy for removing sexual themes, how capcom censored mika's buttslap in sfv, square enix redesigning tifa's character with smaller breasts in ff7 remake, all female characters in mortal kombat 11 getting covered up because sexy outfits "bad" violence and gore "good" nonsense.

When you look at how capcom has self-censored their games so people don't get offended, and you have a lot of video game journalists complaining about females being too sexy in games and that it teaches men not to respect women, and capcom and other games like mk11 suddenly decide to tone down the female sex appeal in their games, then it is very likely that game journalists are influencing capcom to self-censor.

Capcom pandering to sensitive people and game journalists who get offended by skirts and believe sexy female outfits in games teaches men to not respect women and become "misogynists" will kill the RE series. What will capcom do when the same people start to demonize violence and gore in games?

I do kind of want to flag the whole “violence against women” aspect of Nemesis, and of the game in general, as it’s hard to deny it’s a theme, or that it’s presented with at least a little relish. I realise it’s completely unreasonable to single out RE3 for this when, y’know, *gestures at the entire history of the horror genre*. And in fairness, you play as trigger-happy mercenary Carlos for a good portion of the game, so you get to see loads of lingering close ups of a man’s neck getting devoured like a late night burger, too.

But… yeah. There were moments while playing when I just felt uncomfortable. Jill isn’t too obviously a vessel for anyone’s fetishes, but realistic as she is, she’s clearly designed to be sexy. And she spends an awful lot of time being hurled into things, slapped about, grunting in pain, being asphyxiated, and either struggling to force assailants off her, or being graphically murdered by them. There was one particularly rough bit where one of the previously mentioned spider monsters strangled her with tentacles, then rammed a bigger tentacle down her neck to pump her full of parasites. Watching back through my capture footage for screenshots, I could hear myself mutter “not cool, man” into my headset. And it doesn’t happen to Carlos.

I wasn’t even kidding on Nemesis having sleazy dom energy, by the way. Jill’s ex-supercop colleague Brad mentions Nemesis having a “hard-on” for her, and when Carlos is introduced – while saving Jill from a mangling at the hands of ol’ bagfists himself – he quips that Nemesis “knows what it wants, and won’t stop till it gets it – don’t you like that in a man?”
“No thanks,” replies Jill, “he’s all yours”.

I actually liked the interactions between Carlos and Jill, and they worked well to dispel some of the general miasma of yikes mentioned above. Carlos (who is also sexy, though I can’t work out whether that’s because of or despite his ridiculous hair) is a prick. He wants to play the white knight, and Jill’s just not having any of it. Her dialogue never really strays into cringey Strong Female Protagonist territory while fending it off – she’s just a total professional, who’s too busy trying to deal with her situation to pay any heed to that sort of guff. She never feels like half the victim her death animations make her seem.

Violence towards women in the video game Red Dead Redemption 2 evokes toxic masculinity

As in previous Rockstar games, RDR2 gives players the option to kill female characters that represent women’s suffrage, without repercussions. So, should Rockstar Games be held accountable for fostering negative attitudes? Should game developers consider implementing a gaming block that prevents players from attacking the female game characters?

These are serious questions worthy of reflection considering the extensive history of game developers creating games that allow for violence against female characters. Particularly when the character is a suffragette, a symbol of women’s fight for equality.

I remember when in RE2 they censored Claire's classic outfit by taking away her black shirt and adjusting her hip and shoulder width.

How could they do this to us, Gamers!

Design of the outfit got changed, so clearly it must be censorship.

There's no way Capcom could make an artistic choice of changing the design when compared to original. Obviously the game has been influenced by evil SJW cabal.

Yea, the censorship will just get more and more serious if we don't show Capcom our complaint with wallet.

One could think that if Capcom can change Claire's outfit to show more skin on their own, they could do the same thing to Jill's outfit showing less skin for the very same reason.

Is it even possible to look under Jill's skirt in original Resident Evil 3?

ROFL. WTF is this topic even about. You don't get enough pixel boobies in your games?

Actually didn't think you were being sarcastic. The state of these forums in a nutshell.

I just recently did some playthroughs of RE3 and I can't remember any upskirt action.

But someone had modded a skirt into this game and according to them there was no upskirt action in the crawling scene.

The entire thing is just weird. You have thighs and boobs for days, but they draw the line at the skirt.

Me neither. They're just not the first thing I think about when looking up a zombie game.

The original re3 had jill running around in a boob tube and mini skirt. Most people are disgruntled with the remake because they removed the fan service and therefore wasn't faithful to the source material.
