WMVideo Decoder?

The checkbox appears, i check the option and then hit exit, the game window opens and then closes itself. The game does not start by any means. What the heck do i do???

If you guys have the Windows 10 Pro N, u need to download the https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/mediafeaturepack (Media feature Pack), download, install, restart windows, then play the game!

For some reason it does not let me install it. I get an error message and the installer closes itself...i'm running out of options just for 5 min of FMV cutscenes crylol

Is windows N suposed to be for Europe? Maybe that's why its stuck here, my sistem is from the Americas... idk. If anyone has another way of fixing this, please, comment

Yeah, I'm sorry..but WTF is this requirement? Searching up WMVideo Decoder just shows posts from 2006 and even earlier. I have never once in all my life needed this to play a game or watch a video. I'm on the latest Windows 10 with all updates and I don't even have it.

Try this, browse the local files of RE3, then try to execute re3.exe. you will get a message about mfreadwrite.dll, I made a google search about this, after a installed this mediafeaturepack, it's worked for me :(.
When you choose the edition, do you picked the 1903?

What fixed it for me anywa,y was going to the RE3 config file and changing all the 'Direct X12' to 'DirectX11' (I think there were 3 of them) and then clicking on 'Save'...Once the game starts, you might have to change and save it once more (I had to anyway) but after that I had no more issues. I worked for me, for whatever it's worth.

I did two things at once so idk what triggered it but:

1) Downloaded this link someone else shared at another topic: https://www.filepuma.com/download/k_lite_codec_pack_full_12.1.0-11178/

2) Made the step oif changing to DirectX11

And it ran!! Thank you!!

Old control panel>Program add/remove (programs and features)>Add Windows features or remove>upon tiny window appear, look for the "Legacy Features" click on it and enable checkbox DirectxPlay or similar text, enable both (black square means half is selected, a OK is a checkbox we need here) click apply and ok,

Windows will apply the features without needing a reboot, restart steam and rerun game

Tried that, still won't run. I guess I'm just not meant to play this one.

Got the message on first install but I had k-lite media (lite) installed on my computer for watching dvds and stuff.
It did work without any issue and k-lite is a great codec pack so just try it like this person said.
