There will be a PS4 button mod available shortly.
Go to steam settings>controller>general controller settings. This will open Big Picture controller settings. Make sure "Playstation configuration support" is checked off, and that your controller is actually being detected.
Should work after that.
EDIT: You don't actually have to be running Big Picture the entire time to use it; I don't. You're only enabling the needed setting.
Btw, it was checked off for me. By checking it on, it worked. I knew it had done something, because once I enabled that checkbox, my controller lit up.
