Meaning it is more bound by the CPU than the GPU. Much like Factorio.
So, it might be an issue on your end.
The times start at 14:00 mins left, and will continue to be a smooth game around 11:30 mins maybe up until 11:00 mins left. I also noticed all the drills will burrow shortly afterwards. My guess is the game is doing a very expensive calculation on where the drills are next.
It also drops my fps to 0 at 2:00 mins left and will resume normal frames at around 23:00 mins left after the eruption. My guess on this one is the calculation for the replenishment of the minerals.
Again, these are guesses, but it happens each day at those times. I didn't notice it at the beginning of my game play, but it got worse. I'm pretty far into the game.
It's very badly((
I have no performance issues with this game, and i have old midrange hardware only: Ryzen 5 2600X, Radeon RX470 8GB (nitro+), 32GB RAM. It's installed on a NAS, so i even don't have SSD speed for data transfer. I play on 1080p capped at 60 FPS. So if this game runs so bad on your computer, than you must have either a pocket calculator or you messed up your system configuration... or both.
cpus; multiple types of i5, multiple types of i7, i9, multiple Ryzen 5 versions, Ryzen 7, Ryzen 9.
GPUs: gtx 1050, gtx 1060, gtx 1650, 1080ti Dual sli, Intel Iris Xe,
Ram: DDR3/DDR4/DDR5 16gb, 64gb, 128gb,
Storage: NVMe 2 and 4 lane, and ssd as storage medium where game is on the NVMe portion
Variety of laptops, gaming desktops, custom build desktops and laptops, prebuilt gaming laptops/desktops. Can't be telling me, all of these machines i have, having these identical issues.
And the solution i mentioned seemed to be a viable solution on all machines i play this volcanoids game on. As of the current build dating to 3/16/2023.
Still have the aforementioned stuttering, issues.
Alienware, Asus ROG, Acer Nitro 5, Helios, Predator 16 and 17 series, a variety of custom dell machines and customized toshibas,
So... in my experience, this tells me, the game is horrifically optimized. Gonna have to say, its definitely a lack of optimization, and not a lack of under spec'd hardware on my end.
Actually on the machine with what i believe is the crappiest gpu of the mentioned gpus, the intel iris xe, runs butter smooth, when i lower cog spawn from 100% to only 99% (Or i increase that number), and suddenly i have no problems multiplayer wise, i get 22-45fps.
Im used to games running at 60-180fps. So.... yeah. Gonna have to argue its not necessarily hardware, and lean more towards its optimization problems/issues.
We are working on the optimizations and for sure we will do our best to increase the game performance in the future updates. I will have more info about this in the upcoming weeks.
Thanks for your reports and sorry for the inconveniences.
