Game Crashes During Somniums?
My game will randomly crash while im in a somnium or lag really badly in the post somnium cut-scenes. Is anyone else having this problem?

Note: Above doesn't seem to be enough to stop a crash in later sync with (Big spoiler) Boss, gonna add more text to mask spoiler.

Happy psyncing :)
Tried this and it just crashes regardless. Tried every option available.

Yeah I think I just got lucky with that as I ran into it again. Probably good to point out which somnium you're crashing in in case there's any patterns. For me it's Iris & Boss.

I'll throw another solution into the bag, helped me get past Iris' Somnium which was the main source of crashes -- close all the other apps you have running. I'm not sure what the hell was causing the conflict specifically, but I had Discord, Firefox, and my e-mail client open. Closing all of those and then starting the game helped it progress without any more crashes.

For the record, I didn't have to fiddle with graphics settings after doing this. What I believe is happening is that the game is simply running out of some resource during this Somnium. It could be either RAM or video memory, I'm not sure. Once it runs out of it, it just crashes. If my assumption is correct, then both closing the apps and changing the settings can help, but the latter may be unnecessary if just closing the apps will free up enough resources.

Getting constant crashes in So's somnium. I've gotten to the very end 5 times(I did make a save before the final action) and it just will not get past that last cutscene. Literally cannot progress at this rate.

The error file says Access violation. Maybe it's because I don't have it installed on my C drive?

Tried all these and nothing worked. Keep crashing in the middle of the Boss somnium making me unable to progress. Surprised this is still an issue a month after release.

Also tried all of the possible fixes but nothing works. Can't get past the warehouse somnium. Keeps crashing all the time. Game is unplayable and because I have more than 2h of gameplay I can't even refund. This is ridiculous.

I seem to have fixed the problem on my end by running the game as administrator. Specifically, I ran Launcher.exe which is located in Steam/steamapps/common/AI The Somnium Files/ as administrator. My video options were all maxed out except I have turned off VSync, in case that might matter.

Hope this solution works for you all!

Same thing here, randomly crashes in the phase transitions. Saving often somewhat softens the blow, but it would be nice to see more attention from the developers considering the premium pricepoint.

Going to bump this saying I also have this problem and none of the proposed solutions in the thread worked for me. Weird this has gotten no official attention.

Have you guys tried to disable all possible overlays (xbox game bar, geforce experience, discord, etc.) and crashware (Razer, Asus, Game optimizers, etc.)?
Because it seems like they are using much more visual effects during somnium scenes, which could possible not be playing nice and triggering overlays and crashware.

Also have any of you actually followed instructions and send the dxdiag and detailed description of your problem to their support email instructed in pinned topic?

(Windows+R, "dxdiag", wait for it to load, "save all information" button)

Shouldn't effect and doesn't appear to have effect.

It does, as disabling vsync does enable 60 FPS cap, which is most likely in place to ensure that everything in the game is working as designed.
There's already known issue when exceeding 100 FPS, so wouldn't surprise me if there was other stuff breaking similarly at higher than 60 FPS.

Has anyone tried not saving/loading at all during a Somnium? Maybe the problem is with saving/loading there.

I noticed that the one and only Somnium in which I saved/loaded I got 5-10 crashes even when saving frequently there. None of the tips mentioned about changing graphics settings helped, still being inside that Somnium. But then I didn't save in any other Somnium, and I never got another crash?
